Autopilot wont turn off?

Soooo... I like to steal the pirate ships (You know, the enemy AI ones)... What I do is grind down the programable blocks and then grind and repair the cockpit. I then take the controls and the game lets me pilot the ship.

Problem is, when I do this now the ships just display "Autopilot enabled" and I can't control the ship.

What can I do?

Yeah, I did. At the end, I manage to gain control of the ship by placing my own control block and errasing every possible command. Weird.
