Server Not Responding
I've played on the unmodded Keen servers a lot the past few months, but took a couple months off. Now when I try to connect, I get a message that says "The Server is not Responding". I don't have antivirus or firewall running, and don't have a VPN installed. The internet search talks about mods causing issues, but I've never installed or tried mods. I've only been on the Keen servers. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game with no luck. Has anyone had this problem or know about a solution?

Hi, it happens to my son trying to connect to my SE Dedic and I have to restart the server to fix.

Have you tried other servers? You could try one of the community servers in the "Multiplayer" channel on Keen Discord (for a test), server admins are shareing their server information 2 times per week over there and got the best SE servers where you can chat with the admin for a test.

All can join the SE community on Keen Discord from my post in that pinned :

you may try the forum workaround if nothing works :

> Verify the game files with Steam.
> Delete the CFG file.
> Delete the content of the ShaderCache folders. (that one fixed loading problems)
__________

How to Verify integrity of game cache:

- Right click on Space Engineers in your Steam Library.
- Go to properties.
- Go to LOCAL FILES tab.
- Click Verify integrity of game cache
- When done try the game.
___________

Type in your explorer: %appdata%\SpaceEngineers
Go to the SpaceEngineers folder
C: users / your username / appdata / roaming / spaceengineers

>> then delete the ''SpaceEngineers.cfg'' file and try the game.

:alert: Doing so resets all SE options and controls to default.
____________

ShaderCache folders are in appdata SE, same place above ^

No luck joining Keen servers. I followed the second post instructions with no luck. I tried other servers and have been able to log into each of them without any problem. None have mods and not experimental versions. I tried experimental too and was also able to log in. It seems it's just the Keen servers. I logged into Keen servers many, many times a few months ago, but can't any longer for some reason.

Ok so it is just when you want to join one of the Official server.

= You may report by Email = it goes to the SE programmer, too

Email > support@keenswh.com

He may have a important information to share with you but you must add the game log file in your report so he can have a look at something, follow #3 in the Guide on how to report and add the important in :

3. post log file along with description, it can be found here: C:\Users\{YOUR WINDOWS USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\SpaceEngineers.log
or simply paste this into your Explorer:
%appdata%\SpaceEngineers
The log file should be from the game session where you've encountered the bug. If you start the game again, the log will be overwritten.

___

I could have a look at the players in and join the Official server for a test and tell you if I can connect on my side ... bbl

I spent today installing a new hard drive with new Windows 10 Pro. After installing drivers, etc, I installed Steam and Space Engineers. I tried to log into Keen NA #1 and got to the list of factions. I chose a faction and clicked to join and the game crashed to desktop. I started it again and not I get "Server Not Responding". I tried NA #2 and NA #3 and also get "Server Not Responding". I don't know what more I can do now that I tried a complete new drive. I haven't installed an antivirus yet and have disabled the default Microsoft firewall.

Edit: The old HD is on a shelf behind me, so there's no way anything on it is interfering.

The default config of Win10 firewall doesnt interfere with game connections so as long as you havent changed things then you dont need it turned off.

To ensure you dont have a corrupted file that will cause crashes like these delete the entire contents of:

Steam\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers\TempContent

Also delete everything inside of:

AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\

with the exception of the /Blueprints, /Saves, and /Screenshots directories. All other folders and loose files can go and will be regenerated next time you run SE. The files i mentioned are ones that are not removed when uninstalling/reinstall SE nor when verifying integrity so they need to be manually purged if corrupted which is a very rare event.

Actually inside the /Saves folder will be a sub directory for the NA server. Delete that too. You can delete any folders about online servers. Just no need to delete your local single player saves

Crashes to desktop =

Fresh Windows install = make sure all updates are done cause some had to reinstall Netframework these days :

Message from the SE programmer =

Dev Inflex :
"Anyone experiencing the sudden CTD when trying to place block (MissingMethodException), please update your .NET Framework (Runtime) installation to version 4.7.1 or newer as a temporary solution:"
https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download

Keen helped me out, had to update C++,
Here's the link to fix for those who have the same problem

Seronis: This is a new HD, just cut from the silver bag. I went ahead and deleted the folders you mentioned. I don't have any saves, blueprints or screenshots.

Dan2D3D
.NET Framework (Runtime) was the same or newer than 4.8 (message when trying to install it)
I installed C++.

I tried a couple Keen NA servers and keep getting the same message, The Server is Not Responding. I joined a random server, not experimental, no mods called GTXGaming and was able to get in and place some light armor blocks without any issue. The only thing I cannot do is join a Keen server.

I also emailed the log file you mentioned to support@keenswh.com yesterday.

Thanks for trying to help resolve this.

I bought another copy of Space Engineers on a different Steam account and still get the "Server is not responding" error. I'm not sure what the issue is any more. A new-from-the-box hard drive with a fresh installation of Windows and Steam and still the same problem. I have about 50-100 hours on Keen servers over the summer and now cannot log in at all. I've emailed the support address two times and haven't heard anything. Is there something at Keen that's blocking Cincinnati Fiber Optics ISP? I'm pretty much out of ideas to try to get this resolved.

I reported the "Server is not responding" bug directly to the SE Team yesterday and got a reply form the Community Manager saying that they are looking into it and will find a solution.

The best you can do is to send the game log file of that event directly to the SE programmer to help him.

Send it by Email > support@keenswh.com

OR

Create a new "Bug report" on the Support Portal.

I had this problem about a month ago. Suddenly i couldnt connect to any keen server.
My fix was CCleaner (what screwed my system a little bit) and a driver update check for every hardware + windows updates. (what fixed my system again)
Not really sure what cause it was. Just sharing my experience.
Buckeye Dec 2, 2019 @ 8:10pm
I'm not sure what was done, but the issue has been resolved. I wasn't able to get onto a Keen server early this evening, so I played on another server. When I tried later in the evening, it let me on without any issue. I appreciate everyone's help, especially Dan for taking time to respond many times.

You're welcome! :se:
