Second, have a block selected and use middle mouse button to paint. [ ] to change paint color.
Take ownership of it if you don't own it yet. Once it's yours you can paint it. As already said, simply:
- Press "P" to open the color palette
- Choose the color you want and close
- Select a block from your toolbar as if you were placing it. Any block, doesn't matter which.
- Point the block so that it touches some other block of the grid you want to paint i.e. as if you were to place the new block from your toolbar onto that place.
- *But* instead of left-mouse-button which would place the block, hit middle-mouse-button. That will paint the block you're touching with the chosen color
IIRC shift+MMB paints 5x5 blocks instead, and ctrl+MMB paints the whole grid. Or could have been the other way round.
Atleast now i know why we can't help our boss color hes ship the color he wants.
Do the following with a block in hand (IE: armor block)
Shift P: Copy palette of block you're pointing at
Ctr Shift MiddleClick: Paint entire grid
MiddleClick: Paint one block
I can place pre painted blocks just dosnt seem like i can paint after stuff is placed. Maybe I am doing it wrong.
middle mouse button alone dont work
and the block in your hand need to touch the block u want to paint
Here is part of a ship building tutorial from splitsie where he gives some tips on painting.
You should see what you are doing wrong here if you did anything wrong.

@TotalAbyss : "And yes for the second time I own the vehical". You did _not_ twice say you own the vehicle. First message said the vehicle was already built, which does not show any sign of ownership. There was no second. I can paste in vehicles and _say_ that I own them, but the turrets will shoot at me because the pasted turrets still show the pirates having ownership the turret because they owned it when I blueprinted it. This is when I have "Keep original ownership on paste" selected.
I suggest you see if "Keep original ownership on paste" is selected, unselect it. Either way, copy and paste your vehicle and see if you can paint that.
I've also made a fighter with turrets without ammo just so they will point at a block that isn't mine.
Also check that your middle mouse button works outside of Space Engineers at all. Could be a broken mouse.
