I'd love to see module ports added to the sides and ends of the refineries, which would give you the ability to place up to 10 modules, though that would also block all the inventory ports, so it might not be the best idea. Still, for a functional refinery, I think you would be able to get away with up to 9 modules, using the inventory port on one end as input AND output. I also like the fact that modules can be shared between different machines, but it does reduce their effectiveness.
I watched his whole tutorial series this week. Helped me get back in the game. I hadn't played since it first came out and was pretty overwhelmed by the changes to start.

Though combined yield modules are not limited. So 1000kg of iron ore bring 1400kg of iron ingots.
One thing that no one has mentioned is that you don't need to put both ports on a single refinery or assembler. If you have your assembler beside your refinery or two refineries beside each other you can have one half the module on one of the machines and the other half on the other machine. You only get half the buff from the module on each machine but, in the early game, it can help you out when you are short on resources to build modules for both.
