my ship is registered as a station
i need help. my ship is registered as a station and because of that it cant move. i've got everything on it from thrusters and gyroscopes but it is still registered as a station. its not even connected to the ground. its just floating staionary. i don't know what i did wrong.

When you pasted the ship, some corner of the grid most likely invisibly intersected the ground, and the engine is treating it as a station. If you go into the menu and then the Info tab, there is an option to "Convert to ship."

Ideally, you want to paste a new copy of the ship. If not, then at least figure out where you clipped the ground and dig it free. My extremely limited experience is that if you try to "Convert to Ship" while the game thinks that it is clipping the terrain, bad things will happen. If you're lucky, the offending part will just violently explode and the ship will be free. if you are not lucky, the physics engine will have a stroke and the only thing I can say for sure is that you probably won't have fun dealing with whatever it does after that.

While in the game go into the inventory menu, click on "Info". While there look in the bottom right hand corner. Click on "Convert to Ship".

You pasted it into the world too close to the ground. If the bounding box of any block in the grid is intersecting the ground the grid gets set as a static grid (station). When you want to cheat items into the game you have to place them in the air a bit. They wont take damage from falling just a few meters

If you cant change it as Unome said, then seronis is correct, it's simply too close to the gound. Simply look for parts that are closest to the ground and dig the dirt away from them, then you should be able to convert as Unome suggested.

He may not have pasted it in. I had this happen to me when I first started playing and build a big ship on a stilt. one of the corners was only slightly off the ground (an engine). I cut off the stilt, and expected to convert it to a ship, and it took me about a half hour to figure out why I couldn't convert it. I simply had to cut a few pieces of dirt away from that corner that was close enough that the physics engine thought it was still in the ground.. It's pretty confusing when you're new, and haven't figured out all of the nuances and hiccups of the engine.. :/

Hi, It happens when I build in survival on planet and did not started on a landing gear so it becomes a station and the only thing I found to fix is :

1 - Hit Alt+F10 to open the Space Master menu.

2 - Enable creative > "check the creative box" and close the SM menu (Esc).

3 - Aim at your ship/station and hit Ctrl+C, it will show up in your hand ready to paste but just hit Esc to withdraw from your hand.

4 - Go in space by using the spectator F8, fly to space in no Gravity.

5 - Hit Ctrl+V to paste the ship/station.

6 - Go to ship/station Terminal in "Info" Tab to convert to ship.

7 - Exit the Terminal, aim at the new fixed version, hit Ctrl+B to add it in your Blueprints folder on the C: Drive > in-game F10.

8 - Return to your original "ship/station", aim at it and hit Ctrl+X to delete it.
(hit F6 to return to your charcter) edited

9 - Hit F10 to paste back in the new fixed version in your Bp list, just double click on it and right click to paste.

EDIT :clang:

Disable Creative in the SM Alt+F10 when done cause that is the God mode.

Oh! I forgot > hit F6 to return to your character.

Oh, that's a thought. If you built the ship in survival, did you place a landing gear? Or did you build it by placing a block into the ground? When you want to build a new ship you probably want to start with a landing gear, since that allows it to remain still and also be considered a ship. If you started with a block and built a pole, then the whole grid started out as a station automatically. And depending on your settings, even breaking the connection to the ground won't automatically turn it into a mobile grid. (There is a setting that will allow stations to fall over or drift away once you break the ground connection, but I don't know if it is on by default in vanilla and I'm not able to check right now.)
