Dx11 error (I have dx12)
Before you say it, yes I know theres a new portal for bug reporting this but frankly I posted a dx11 error on there and its been 10 days with no and or unhelpful responses

I am missing a CFG file and I see a lot of people having Dx12 but not being able to run space engineers
I spent 3 weeks of my life researching, tinkering, reinstalling, etc
I even factory reset my computer just to see if that would work
Guess what, seeing this post means it didn’t
So I thought I’d explain the problem here and wait for responses and helpful answers to help me resolve this
I tried the following things:
1. Verifying cache files
2. Reinstalling steam and space engineers
3: factory resetting
4: rebooting computer
5: adding a friend’s CFG file
6: tinkering with my friends CFG file (space engineers completely ignores the cfg file then tells me “where the heck is your dx11 card”
I checked and my graphics card is compatible with Dx12
7: downloading Dx11/12
8: fresh install (removing all the files and then did verify cache files and removed all the files and ran the game)
9: reinstalled again
10: switched to dx9 32 bit version
I was surprised the game finally ran it but its 32 bit and lagged the computer so hard
But a cfg file was generated on the dx9 version so I went back to normal game and rewritten the cfg file so instead of DirectX 9 to 11, didnt work so I did 11 to 9 and still didnt work

I would love to say everyone of my friend’s who has Dx12 cant run the game but its just me and the bug reports on here and the bug report website

Please, I am such a fan of space engineers and I used to play it all day and all night and all it says now is “Sorry but this game is run off of Dx11 for more info please visit this link”

And people have been having this problem for a while but its like a mutating virus where you have the antidote but it can mutate and you need to make another cure to fix it

Dx11 superbug

Hi, no problem, all can ask here so me and the Veteran players can help.

The Windows will have DX12 installed but the game uses the Graphic card DX.

Share your PC specs and I will see if OK.

Go to "Help" on top of your Steam app, click "System information", wait till it detects your PC specs and copy/paste all in here.

Edit

Sorry corrections made

Alright
Oh by the way I forgot to mention I’m using bootcamp to run space engineers but before the economy update happened I played it like 24/7
So this is just a bug with a different symptom
I’ll get back with the specs shortly

EDIT: Bootcamp converts my stats and processors into windows form
I was able to run space engineers but then reinstalled bootcamp and space engineers decided not to work

If you were able to play before a game update = maybe because there is 2 Graphic in your PC so a integrated + graphic card = and the game uses the integrated one (Driver conflict)

Seems that you forgot to install the Graphic Driver!

It shows :

Video Card:
Driver: Microsoft Basic Display Adapter

I see that when I don't have any graphic card installed.

Go here to see if you have a graphic card with a warning on it saying not installed :

- open control panel -> device manager -> display adapters

If it got a integrated graphic = try to update it

- open control panel -> device manager -> display adapters -> right mouse button on intel(R) HD graphics xxxx (xxxx stands for number of graphics you are having) -> hit update driver software -> after update is done, restart the computer -> start the game

Odd how it only shows a "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter"
I am in "Display adapters" and under it, it just shows a Microsoft Basic Display Adapter
nothing else

Bad installation for X reasons so make sure you know the Graphic card name you have so NVIDIA or AMD and go to the proper website to download reinstall the Driver using auto detect installer "Experience" app from NVIDIA or Catalyst for AMD

alright I'm downloading an auto detect install radeon graphics driver
lets see how this works

EDIT: Says something went wrong
the program is not detecting my Radeon so I'll try doing NVIDIA

Its probably a issue with running windows on a mac. But I agree the graphics card listed should be AMD Radeon Pro 570 or 575 or 580 for a iMac18,3. Perhaps this is a clue to the solution.

Yeah but as I stated I did play this before the economy update (when I reinstalled bootcamp it stopped working)
I really hope it is a clue to the solution

I am gonna restart my computer because NIVIDIA is not detecting anything because it requires java and I have java so I'll be back
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Ah! I just noticed your "edit" about "Bootcamp", sadly I have no XP at all with MAC, well I can change parts in it and that's it.

Have you tried with "SteamPlay"?

Now Linux members can play SE using it so maybe you could try.

Edit

Steam play or Proton on macOS

exploring other options on getting a graphics card driver I guess
I'll keep trying on the AMD

Ohh I see an "Apple Bootcamp" on AMD
