Thumb mouse buttons not useable?
Is that a permanent thing?

No. It'll be added in the upcoming Basic Interface Concepts That are Standard for All Other Games DLC next year.

Sundance is actually right. And i am sorry to be that stupid. Last row is for mouse only.
A bit weird, but still in the game.

Glad your problem is solved, don't mind it too much... it's just a rare kind of binding keys... you'll stop thinking about the "why the f..." after playing for a while, still an interesting game overall.

You're going to love pistons and/or rotors on ships... =)
