Can't Find Enemies

So I started a new game, selected create custom game, selected survival, then selected solar system. I spawned in a drop ship, landed, built a makshift rover. I've sence been roaming around looking for enemy outpost but after 5 hours of searching I havnt found a single trace of an enemy ANYWHERE. Am I just not looking hard enough?

There are no enemies on the planets or moons of the Star System start. If you enable "enemy" features under Advanced Settings you will encounter them in space. But not on the planets or moons.

Enemy bases on planets is a feature of the Easy Start maps.

wow. This whole day has been wasted. So what game mode do I need to play in to get enemies on planets?????

with "easy start" (earth/mars etc) you get some ( i think 2 ?) enemy bases on the respective planet as well as countless drones spawning from them attacking you.
But as soon as you defeated those stations, there aren´t any new enemies spawning in on planets - for that you will need to traverse into space.

so, with the way things are with the game, the chances of having an all out brawl with the AI on planets are practically none?

In vanilla, pretty much. However, there are mods that add more encounters on planets, even in the the star system start.

well i DID enable the MOD that everyone uses to expand the enemy encounters in survival mode. pshhhh, a lot of good it did.

Yes. SE is just a sandbox building game. I doubt the game has the type of NPC enemy encounter for which you are looking.

I was a bit confused by the inclusion of the "enemy" bases on the Easy Start maps since they give new players, like you, the sense that there are more enemies out there to combat.

There are some mods which place addtional enemy generating antennas in the game and increase the frequency at which enemies spawn.

But these are all limited by the basic mechanics of the game. That is an antenna spawns a drone when you get too close to it and the drone will chase you until you get too far from it.

These don't present a real challenge which is why many simply leave them disabled.

well what the hell are weapons and armor doing in a mode called "survival" if there arn't any real enemie attacks to SURVIVE?

Search the workshop for surface occupation. Spawns a veriety of buildings as you travel across the planet surface.

The vanilla game has enemies in space so this is a must have mod for me to make it feel complete :)

Even the surface occupation mod won’t add bases that spawn attack craft. You can attack bases though. They fight back.

For enemies though once you get to space your getting attacked either in vanilla or use mods but it’s nothing special.
