How on earth do I unlock new blocks????
So I had this "grind to learn" mod that was more interesting/storied but idk what the normal process is anymore.

I have a few modded blocks that now I cant grind to learn for obvious reasons, I deactivated the mod and constructed the item in the assembler but all it did was give me the components not any way of building the actual damn thing.

Please help -_-

The only thing that can help you = is to ask the Mod author OR read the comments on the Workshop item, it may give you some clues.

but I disabled the mod now, how do you unlock blueprints in the vanilla game?

Try in a new NO Mods Creative world to learn.

Here is the video TUTO on how to use Blueprints from the Devs :

Not blueprints, for example I want to build a gravel resource extractor, and I want to build yield/speed/energy modules for the assembler. But all the assembler does it build the components for everything. How do I actually build the items???

Oh! You are new to the game.

I'll recommend to watch ''Lets play'' on the Net = it will help you get started.

Try the Guides on top of the forum.

This one may help :

I havent played ina while, stop linking things and just say the like 3 sentences that tell me how to go from not having a block unlocked, to having a block unlocked. I dont want to have to watch through a long video when you could easily have just said it by now lol :D

Edit: Watched a 30 second clip and turns out all you had to say was you have all blueprints unlocked from the start.

But that mod disabled them, so im going to have to restart my save entirely. Oh well 6 hours well spent I guess.

Well all blocks are available so I don't know why you can't see those in the ''G'' menu.

edit

There is nothing to unlock!?

edit 2

I just tested starting a new suvival world and there is nothing to unlock = all blocks are available but we need steel plates to start building.

I just noticed your ''Edit:''

When using Mods = first thing to do is to try in a new world (no mods) to have some clues on what is going on and to test without ''Mods in'' > to know if it's a Mod problem or a game problem.

You dont "unlock" blocks in vanilla. You just press G and put the one you want on your toolbar. Then you place it (normally requires a single steel plate in your inv to place). Then you weld it up.

PS you said you want to build a "gravel resorce extractor" thats not a vanilla block that would have been from your mod ;)

I know i said they were modded :D And yeah I edited my last comment and noted that I forgot you get everything unlocked instantly. Still a fun mod to unlock stuff by grinding it (it was for a story map thing)

Is this thread still valid as of 11-18-19? I'm playing Vanilla, I just verified I have no mods, but everything is not "unlocked". Did the Devs incorporate the "build to unlock" theme? I'm in survival, and I've been trying to pay attention to what causes unlocks, so far I've ruled out:

Unknown Beacons
Bases
Drilling down existing blocks (exploring)

My only last guess is "build" to unlock. But I only have access to a hydrogen thruster initially. I don't want to have to build that somewhere just to unlock "atmospheric thrusters", in survival that's a huge waste of time (yes I can get the resources back by drilling it down). But that would be dumb to incorporate (in the wrong build order). Any thoughts? Please advise.

Edit:
I figured out Progression unlocks the blocks, I thought it was something else, but it's exactly the build path to unlock them :p

I was going to write about that, then i noticed your edit:

For everyone else:

Yes, in survival you have to unlock new blocks by building some others, but you also can grind down existing blocks an repair them instead of building new ones.
*points at spawnship*

Sidenote: Don't grind down the battery, cuz that one you can't repair as you destroy some of their components completly!

You can view what and how to unlock inside the progression tab at the tool-menu.

If the block does not unlock then either you have not build the right block, or somethings rigged.

Cheers~
