What kind of computer can actually run this game on max settings?

Depends on the individual save, you can bring even top end gaming rigs to theyr knees if you keep building bigger and bigger.

Also the max settings (extreme if I remember right) where originaly ment for pretty high res screenshots instead of playing,
Modern day mid to high end gaming rigs can take it up to a certain point, altho I still have my setting on medium with post processing off.

There is little visual diverence between mid and high settings anyway in my opinion.

Edit:
My system specs
AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti 12GB Vram
32 GB DDR4 RAM 2133Mhz
480 GB M2 SSD as system drive

My system could run SE on max but I stay on medium to have better performance on heavily moded saves.

Intel i9 * 6/12 cores
32 GB RAM
NVIDIA GTX 1080 8GB

Works fine.

Which i9 has only 6 cores with HT? The smallest i9 is 8c/16t (9900K) while HEDT i9 have between 10c/20t up to 18c/36t.

@OP:
It highly depends on what you have build, your resolution and stuff you run.
Suff like scrips or if they are actually run by the server and which CPU the server uses. Most server use Xeon CPU's which doesn't run that well.

The ammountbof mods and which kind of mods, the amount of polygons each model is using...

It's MSI's gaming laptop (GT75 Titan 8RG). A bit over 1 year old but runs all my games decent enough.

I run it on 'high', but without PP, because I hate their unadjustable PP.
-Ryzen 3 with Vega
-16 gig DDR4 RAM
-SSD
-GTX 1050 Ti

Also note that 'extreme' is just 'high' without the lodding,

So if I turn off PP hopefully I am good to go.

I have a RTX 1060 that runs anything else perfectly.

Will give it a go thanks everyone!

I honestly do not know how resource intensive PP is; I just have it 'off' because I don't like the aesthetic.
The only think in this game that is "breaking" anything is the frigging shadows, disable those and everything else runs on max fine.

Do not play at Max Graphic settings = that is made to take nice screenshots only.

Play on Medium or Default high = good perfo

My PC

Motherboard ASUS P7P55 LX (8 years old)
Intel Core i5 cpu 760 @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHz (8 years old)
RAM 16 Gb (new)
Sys. Win10 Pro 64 bit (new)
Graphics NVIDIA Strix GTX 1050 Ti (new)

Turning off PP made a huge difference!

I can run game at 4K now with everything almost maxed as long as I keep PP off.

Thanks!

I play on max performance with this rig-

Motherboard=Aorus 470
GPU=GTX 1660 ti
CPU=Ryzen 5 2600
RAM=32gb
OS=Win 7

I also have x2 200mm and x2 360mm liquid cooling to keep it nice and cold. This game made it run a bit hot before I added these. Not sure if I overkilled it or not though.
I play high settings with an I7 7700 16gb of ram and a 2060 (although my old 1050ti did just fine) The game pushes my I7 about 50% at the most and ram usage regularly reaches about 8gb. Video ram usually around 3 gb. So I would say any ryzen 5/intel I5. 16 gb of ram, and a reasonably modern video card with at least 3-4 gb of VRAM should be good.

Is it the voxels that are cpu intensive?
Weaver Oct 25, 2019 @ 8:48am
That's entire depends on how much has been built. At some point, nothing.

I have:

AMD Ryzen 7 2700
16 GB DDR4 3200 RAM
Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB SSD 2280 NVMe SSD
AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT

=============

Can run the game on High settings, 120+ FPS (mind you this is on Planets). Extreme I wouldn't try just yet (seems to stutter, either drivers or SE doesn't like Radeon)
