Grinding destroys parts

When i was grinding my solar panel, i notice that power cells were returned as scrap metal. Same for battery. But there is statement on SE wiki, that grinder should return all parts. And just to be specific enough: im talking about a tool, using experimental build, no mods. Can someone tell me, if grinder returns all parts, or does it destroys some specific parts (glass, power cells...)? Thanks in advance!

No, no, no..... This has been brought up many times.
The battery does not return power cells. Power cells get ground to scrap metal.

"With Update 01.105, a battery, once built, already has a 30% charge, meaning it can be used immediately. However, it is now no longer possible to salvage Power Cells from a battery, any power cells will be recovered as Scrap Metal, losing a significant amount of Nickel and Silicon."

Edit: The reason for all this is players would make a battery with the 30% charge, use it until it had no power, ground it, welded it, and got another 30% charge for free energy.

Also note that if your inventory is full when you grind a block down, the parts will drop.
If you grind a dropped part it will turn into scrap, so it is possable to overgrind and break parts.

Id personally recommend the "RB Batteries No Scrap" mod. It both adds new small grid batteries of a few sizes, ensures you get back all parts of all batteries, but new batteries are constructed in an un-charged state so there is no 'free power'.

The game needs a wrench tool so we can take apart things instead of just grinding stuff to a pulp.

The issue is keen WANTS battery cells destroyed because they think people will grind a battery and rebuild it to keep getting free power and not rely on other power methods. Not like wind turbines dont provide free infinite power. And not like they couldnt just not have batteries have that much of a charge when built. If batteries only had like 1% charge when built (enough to jump start connectors) there wouldnt be an issue getting power cells back.
