How can I make a trailer (for a vehicle)
I basically want to have some trailers for my land vehicles. I don't know how to make them all wobbly when you move around. I know merge blocks/connectors/landing gear will make it connected but they'll be stiff like a single vehicle. What block should I use then? I know it's possible. Saw it in a video but the main parts were hidden under the vehicle. Any help is appreciated!

I actually did this very recently:
https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/790856698887996780/D2AE040BD3C3ED9CC51D80062A6AC6749E86F409/

It uses a rotor for twist & as a way to detatch the trailer.
And a pair of hinges for pivoting vertically & horizontaly.

Just a note: Make sure you have some pistons to keep the front up and rotor lock the hinges before you detatch.

Hi, I use "Helper ships" with landing gear to grab and connect the tractor and trailer, well a lot of good Engineer ideas can be used to build in survival.

OR > Build the front part, add a rotor and build the trailer right away on the rotor head but do the settings before adding too much on the head.

In creative =

I work in No Gravity, so in space and I will add thrusters on the front part (Tractor) and same on the trailer to connect.

Like I did for my new 2019 Grizzly :

I recommend to setup the rotor before adding too much on the rotor head, I usually do the rotor setup with 2 to 8 blocks on it.

for example on my above Grizzly > I have set a limit so the Tractor never hit the trailer when turning.

______

Best Tip

Use the "save as" and change your world name to create a copy = this way you can load if your Engineer testing went wrong :clang:

Dan don't mean to be rude by correcting you; that Grizzly isn't a trailer, it's articulated.
The way Smelly phrased it, it sounds like he wants a ball joint.

"articulated", yes indeed, thanks for pointing.

tho take my advice about the rotor setup :clang: :selike:

One of my very early sumbissions was the beowulf artillery thingm lots of bad design on the turret because i was still pretty green to the game. But the trailer articulation seemed to work well even if i forgot roll haha

Dunno how to link ut on my phone but theres a closeup shot of the hitch on the workshop page :)

Haha thanks for doing the links for me lander. I swear im useless with these phones :)

Thank you all for answering! I'll test things and inspect those workshop vehicles when I get on my PC

Do it semi-trailer style; rotor pointing up on main vehicle; merge block on top; trailer has merge block at the end of a rotor on its side... provides full rotation and prevents snapping

You don't need the merge blocks at all, as you can detach and attach rotor heads easily.

ive always had issues getting rotor heads to reattach, thus why i usually use merge blocks :(
