HELP: How to Activate Ore Location Display?
U just started to play this game, thus some of the simpliest things are not easy for me to figure out. Example drilling for resources. I am still beside my emergency capsule that landed with the paraschute, and I have a hand driler in - guess where - my hand. I know how to drill into the ground. But I saw on Youtube that another player had something like a map display that shows with letters, at what location there were different types of ores. My question now is, how to activate that display. I know, that the hand drill or capsula have a ore detection range of 50 meters.

1. But how to load that ore location display?
2. What key combination to build items when having enough resources?

Big thanks.

It works automatically, you need to be in range of the ore and you will see it on screen, but make sure you got HUD enabled with 'h' keybind.

Answer to second question: you open up block menu using 'g', then you drop all your needed blocks on toolbar. Once you close menu you choose block in toolbar using numbers on keyboard, then you place it down anywhere you want, keep in mind that if you click same number on keyboard you will switch between larger blocks for stations and smaller for ships. You might also want to use survival kit block to craft components if you're in survival.

Hi, we must be in range like Vincent said by using a Ore Detector to see all on screen.

+

A cool way to see at a longer distance but you still need to be in range is by using a Drone or remote Car with ore detector + antenna on it and a Station antenna = you can stay at the station and will see the ores found from the station at the range of its antenna (can't see the ore if outside the large antenna)

Thanks a lot, good spirit in this group!

Basically, I have to work around until I see some ore letters somewhere in the landscape, correct?

When O plaid the last time, i had a HUD display. Then i closed the game over night and today play again. I recharged my suit energy by sitting on the capsula chair. But when leaving the capsula, no HUD anymore. And "h" doesn't bring it back. I will keep trying. Meanwhile, I also will walk around until I see some ore letters.

Any more advices are, in my beginner phase, absolutely welcome! :-)

Is there a possibility to change the key bindings?

UPDATE: "TAB" (not "h") gives me the HUD. :-)

Correct, tab controls the HUD, but there's addittional HUD for gps markers that can be controller with 'h'.

Key bindings can be changed in settings, as I remember.

And you have to have detector moving so it could reach ore locations.

Thanks again for taking your time and helping me. Greatly appreciated.

"h": It switches the signal between
- no names
- switched off
- normal display
- fully visible

1. Which one is for the ore? Sorry to bother with more questions, but over time i will ask less and less.

2. Is there any way to see how many more minutes it will be night/day?

3. Are there possibilities to interact with trees or grass or flowers or bushes, etc.? Not political discussions i have in mind, but harvesting seeds or lumber or fruits or vegetables, to boost my health or create - much later on - a space ark full of plant and animal life that helps me to terraform other planets or asteroids. Everyone knows that close contact to nature inspires more creativity, intelligence and health. ;-)

Default signal (normal) is the one I recommend for you to use. These settings are just in case you have 10+ markers and you want to play without distractions on screen. All of them are for ores.

Night and day time duration is set in game settings, before you enter the game. Day/night lasts 2 hours as I remember. You can place LCD with already-made clock script to see what time it is. Or there is a time command in chat, not sure about it. Press 'Enter' and type in: /help to see available commands.

Current interactions with landscape is that you can cut down trees using saw and you can gather materials by left mouse button holding using a drill and looking at ground, right button holding would just dig without dropping materials.

There's no wood, forgot to mention that. You only have what you dig.

Thanks again.

My last question for this thread is, how to place LCD.

I also will try out the ENTER command and see, how well this feature can answer my questions.

Good way to start playing is by building a small 3x3 ground made of metal blocks, attaching 5 metal blocks in height on top of one blocks and placing wind turbine on it (highest place). Then build assembler on same metal ground. Energy can go past everything that is connected. Game doesn't care if you have welded the blocks or not, game cares if it's connected.

The way assembler works is you put materials in its inventory and you go to assemble tab, I think its called assemble tab.

Enter just opens up chat.

To place lcd you need to have metal blocks where you could place LCD on and it needs energy source.

Also, you might not be able to build all blocks, by default "progression" is enabled. What it means is that you unlock new blocks by building the required ones, check out progression tab in 'g' menu! ;)

How to see the ores (sorry late)

Your hand Drill tool got a Ore detector, just select it to have in hand to see the ores on screen but better create a small/large ship or car with a Ore detector block on it, the range is better than the Hand Drill.

Also, add GPS coords when you find Ores so will never lose that position, go to GPS Tab in you inventory to create gps coordinates and you will see it from everywhere in your world.

After you have found an ore location with your handrill, or ore detector, you can save that location as a GPS marker. You can rename the GPS location to the types of ore you found. The saved GPS location will continue to show even when you are not in range.

GPS locations can be added in your Terminal under the GPS tab. The button "create from current location" will make a GPS marker where your character is at.
