SE dont have night vision googles. You have build in so called "Lights" on your ship
Mars' terrain is unforgiving. My giant rover had enough trouble driving in the day, does that slight rise obscure the other side of the hill, or a massive chasm? Did get airborne a few times.
Anyway, beware mountains on Mars, the only sane way is to go around them, unless you want to visit the monolith. Get to know the area around your base, put up GPS markers for areas with obvious hazards.
It is harder to see ore spots at night and same to find lost ship so make sure you have power with antennas set on Max range with a Station nearby = the station antenna will help to see all ship antennas in its range.
It is worst inside and I have to tun ON my suit light even during the day.
It's dark :

There is the "Eye adaption" thing in game so you may see better in some positions.
edit
sorry I made some corrections up there
your choice of words was a little bit "unuseful" Sorry, if my answer gets a little to rough. But you have several option to avoid crashing into mountains. place a load of headlight to the front and underneath. adjust the headlights to max distance, this could help
