oh, was this possible some time earlier? i thought i saw it on youtube some time ago
i also thought i did this once. maybe i ''accidently'' filled it via a h2/o2 generator
im running a small mining ship with some hydrogen thrusters on an earthlike planet rn. it seems like my hydrogen tank is empty soo fast. even though i have very few thrusters installed. any way to prevent this? maybe by optimizing or configure them? and btw what exactly is overriding for?
The Thruster Override is exactly what it says on the box. It overrides the throttle input and sets a specific % of thrust.
Don't use Hydrogen on a mining ship, just don't. You should be using Atmospheric engines in an earthlike, and Ions in space. The only time you should be using Hydrogen is early on in space when you haven't found Platinum yet, and for Heavy Lifting ships into Orbit.
thank you for those tips. But on my first atmospheric thruster mining vessel, it run out of energy too fast because i was jsut using batteries without any reactor.
i havent found any silver jet, so i cant build a reactor. Any tips for going into space the first time? i tried once but my hydrogen tank went empty after 2 minutes.
Ion trusters for Vacuum (wich includes space/really high altitudes).
They do not work in each others realm, with a huge area where neither should give you enough lift to go higher/maintain height.
Hydrogens only advantages are high engine power and that it works equally in and outside of atmosphere. But in turn you need a compeletly seperate infrastructure to run them.
With batteries, you need to give them enough time to actually charge. If it only lasted 2 minutes, you only charged it 2 minutes too.
At 12 MW Production/Consumption and 3 MWh capacity, it takes at least 15 minutes to fully charge or decharge a battery. This can be okay for some civilian applications. But for other stuff, you may want to use nuclear reactors.
IIRC, Batteries are also half full (and do not decay).
This allows the Systems to function and testing of the mechanics like refueling in creative mode.
add 2 batteries and 2 small reactors if you have uranium ,if you are all up to hydrogens make your base gas station and fill ship tanks there ,gas have no weight in SE afaik but ice have alot so if you carry ice on your ship to refill in flight it makes thrusters to work even harder.
