I've done this setup with 5 of such drone in a row, for a 220km route between two stations. Drones could be flown on autopilot and then docked at the other end.
You may enable "See antenna range" from the station terminal in "Info" Tab = this way you will see it and know if it is a bug + IF you lose the Drone while into the antenna range and that would be a Bug to report on the Support Portal
Testing needed to be sure it is a bug to report.
There is no mechanic for reception and signal boosting. There is only transmission radius. You're either in range of the transmitter, or you get nothing. (Much simpler to code)
You shoud see a powermeter bottom right on your screen when in control of your drone, near 100 or turning red meens not enough power.
