Spiders out of control
I suppose theres a reason their still experimental, but do they have any rhyme or reason for why they spawn, and what not. I know they spawn less at night, but other than that not much else, like for example:

is there a way to stop them from spawning besides turning them off, EG- in ark you build and spawns, and resources stop populating within a meter or so. In minecraft monsters wont spawn within your 15 block light radius.

is there any methods to stop hoards from spawning?

because honestly its constant and insane, and complete RNG, its not even timed or anything its just 6-8 at a time whenever they feel like it. (normal spawn rate btw, didnt put it into cataclysm or anything like that)

- Underground base. Dig straight down at first if you can. While sabroids can traverse a fairly level tunnel, a hole straight down seems beyond them.

- Platformed base. Build some pillars and elevate the base. It's kind of handy that they don't attack structures anymore.

- Cliffside base. Difficult to start, but funny to watch sabroids falling to their deaths on occasion.

excellent tips, its been really hard. because we get attacked at the most random weird times.
by way too many. but that helps!

Theya re not experimental. They simply were canceled before they got any attention like most things in this game.

Um... cancelled?

Spiders and wolves got tuned way down from the earlier incarnations. The wolves used to be cyberhounds that would explode after death, which could lead to some nasty base destruction. I never played with the spiders of the time, but I understand that they were also downgraded in threat levels.

Somewhere out there, I'm sure there's at least one mod that will restore the earlier versions of the critters. They might actually still work, too. (Mods don't always age well)

I still find it dumb that the planet you spawn on is the most deadly planet in the game, it should start out easy and then get hard like any normal game is supposed to work.

Actually Spiders seem to spawn more at night lol

Anywhere you spawn has its own unique challenges. Earth (minus wolf troubles) can be the easiest place to start. Making a base where the wolves can't get in should be easy enough... once you figure out just what all wolves can and cannot do.
Mars has the challenge of needing to find/make O2 constantly, since the thin atmosphere has none.
Alien planet has enough O2 in the air that air vents can be used to draw in enough to breathe, and the spiders aren't omnipotent. They can burrow into the ground to hide/ambush, but not through blocks.

Earth and Mars moon spawns have more resources at hand than a space start, but the constant freezing temps and lack of atmosphere can be killers to those not paying attention.
Space... the final frontier. Or the 'hard' start. Meh, it's not difficult if you halfway know what you're doing. For a complete newbie, it's a fast way to becoming a floating corpse due to freezing temps and lack of ready O2 supplies.
actually Buzzard, they can come up through blocks, found that out the hard way, if you grid align them to the lowest point they will go, yeah they can, also the buggers (no pun intended) can climb

Rounded armour corners. I use these to make pillars (4 each layer to make a big, round pillar). It seems to confuse the hell out of them. lol

What do you have against spiders ? I've much fun with them. Shoot them and you get parts. Otherwise build a base above the ground and observe them through a window. When driving inside a rover they are absolutely harmless. They are simply stupid and easy prey.

They can be pretty brutal in the starting lander. Especially if you get unlucky and run out of ammo.
But yeah, once you're established they can be a source of amusement an parts.
If you find that the "free parts" makes things a bit too easy, once you're set up, I would highly recommend the True Survival mod, where you need food, water and rest. Sabs and wolves drop meat/eggs instead of parts. ;)

For spiders you build on a pole with grinders at the base. Auto-kill!
Thanks for the hints everyone! my group and I have implemented the strategies given, and have come out with nothing but good results, thank you for being helpful!

Nothing sadly has been done to NPCs since keen broke them in 2018. I just been trying to get them fixed and enabling modding support by removing the hardcode on them. https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/general/topic/fix-npcs-to-be-functional-again

Best way to deal with them is to build up high and when dealing with them on the ground keep moving away from them and shoot them. It would be nice if Keen did a PVE overhaul because the PVE in SE is very lack luster...
