Capturing a Space Ship
So how do you capture a space ship? When I take a pirate base on the ground, I have to grind everything to HACK level and then build it back up, but I think I'm doing it the very hard way.

Is there a single block I need to hack for all attatched to become mine? I'm probably missing something simple...

As an alternative, which will likely be fixed soon as well :
Put a timer block on the pirate ship, set the block action to deactivate the reactors or power systems, activate the timer block, deactivate the power block, then commence grinding up everything.

You would have to hunt down a mod that allows you to do what you want. I know there's a hacking block that you can mount onto an enemy grid, and it will automatically hack all the blocks on it overtime until it's yours.

Yeah, there is an easier way. Many consider this a current bug though.

Get to the pirate base. Grind to hack level ONE block, and I suggest the keypad next to the front pad. Weld that back up. With that, you can get to the terminal list of the pirate base where a lot of blocks will be listed in red because you don't own them. Select the first one on the list, scroll down to the bottom of the list, shift-click on the last block. This selects all blocks. On the right side of the screen, change the ownership to you. You now own the pirate base and can access all blocks.

Thank you. Since it is kind of a bug, I won't use it in most games, but will for my more aggressive fun blast em all games. Appreciate the responses.

There's some Hacking Computer mods in the workshop. THOSE, I'll use, rather than an unpatched bug. There's a few blocks that the hack computer won't always take over, especially on larger grids, but that's usually some of the lower priority items where it doesn't really matter. Guns, controls, anything high-priority, seem to always get hacked before the computers shut down.
It's not an instant process, but a block by block subversion of the grid, leading to eventual ownership. On armed grids, find/make a clear approach, place down as many hack computers as you can, then either wait in place, or retreat to safety. When the hack computers report nothing more to work on, move in and check for stuff that didn't convert.

Yup, that's the one. They're a little pricey when you realize that it'll cost some gold to make, but for the opportunity to unlock an entire grid's ... everything, they're CHEAP.

We once had a space capture attempt go sideways, and the ship ended up going down on the planet, crash-landing surprisingly intact. I get to investigating and see more than one warhead, and interior turrets pointed right at... "EVERYBODY BACK AWAY" Got to a far corner of the ship, slapped down 10 of the hacking computers and waited until they were absolutely done before going in. Turns out to be a hydrogen freighter with a few goodies to be looted. Couldn't tell if those warheads were armed before the hack, but I sure as hell wasn't going in there with live turrets nearby. One stray shot and...
