It's about as "fixed" as Intel's chip problem.

Compared to... two years ago? Maybe only a year ago, I don't remember the last time we tried; it's apparently fairly solid.

My friend(who just barely hits the rec specs) and I (who goes well past it last I knew) had tried multiplayer with my hosting. It went about as poorly as it could; Clang destroying the most simple of small ships, connectors exploding with the force of a warhead, lagging through a respawn ship AND an astroid. The works.

Last week or so ago we decided to give it a try again, and it's gone EXCEPTIONALLY well. Sure, it's still just the two of us(with me still hosting); but we're sitting on several large ships with multiple connectors and zero issues in that regard. We've had a FEW 'whoops I just lagged through the ship' moments, but I don't think we've actually had deaths in regard to that yet.

There's been several wonky things in regards to how random cargo ships are behaving, but I'm mostly blaming the planets for that more than mulitplayer.
multiplayer has 2 mayor problems that i had the bad luck of meeting them:

1. with around 1,5-2k of hours that the world was played the world is somehow no longer remotly loadable, so only singleplayer useable.
2. after some time playing, for me it was 1-2hours nonstop, you need to close the game and reconnect to the server/host because of desynchronisation which causes ghosts of items or signals in space and inventory

the last time i have tried this was mid 2017 with a own sever where i wanted to have a never resetting world, so after around 2 month i was no longer able to load into the world with a vanilal world or a modded world, even with a world where never a player where constructing something and the world was just running vanilla and blank.
the desynchronisaiton problem got more heavy for me as more was in the world.

multiplayer fi.. fi.. fix? whats a ... mult.. pl..ayer fix? they claim so often its fixed its fixed its been years. Its still just as ♥♥♥♥♥♥ as it was years ago just in different ways. My entire system froze when playing with a friend. whoever was host would crash thier system.
If you like building, designing, mining, terraforming... Is it enjoyable? Absolutely.

Can you do all of those things with no problems? Yes, you can. But beware, Clang even though Keen "claims" to have fixed it, still exists, so anything with rotors, pistons, and wheels are a NO-GO for multiplayer, unless you enjoy seeing your hard work explode out of nowhere. I sure don't.

Aside from that, it is a buggy game, but you can still play it without encountering bugs for hours and hours and hours, maybe even days. It is not as bad as people make it seem, truly...

But then you get to the point where... "Okay. I built everything I wanted to... Now what?"

That's just it. Space Engineers has no goal. After you've built whatever you desired... Then what? Nothing. Just nothing. What if you get bored of mining? What if you get bored of terraforming? What if you get bored of building a base or ship? What then? Absolutely nothing.

There just isn't enough content to keep you satisfied in the long run, which then causes you to "burn out" and not play SE for a long time. The cycle repeats.

Its currently much better then in the past. Rotors, pistons no big deal (some moving, but no explode anymore and after some moments back into normal position or no movement at all Oo), but wheel clang inside and grid fall into the planets. I checked this now since 3,5 weeks on vanilla DS. Its ok, better then I thought. Sometimes 1-2 lag/sim speed drop, when someone using refinery with uran... currently bad idea.... massive sim speed drop 20-35%... but the rest is ok.

Btw have a station at ~ 105.000 Km out from 0-0-0 dont produce lags like in the past, because of the big distance from mapcenter.

Its currently rly great... (with an active admin, of course.) 2-3x was a server-crash + restart to do and delete some grids. (no energy falling into planet from connector or ground - but landing-gear workaround no problem) Its rly fun, when you have an active admin who cares the crap and little bit skill on your side. (watch energy, use landing gears is your friend) and you can have a big time. It seems KSH had done some work.... !!! - I still expect more then 1-4 lines in patchnotes. xD

Get an 970 or better if you want to have a good time.
@jaxjace
because most multiplayer things are simspeed or conection problems a strong graphiccard brigns you nothing. the same multiplaer problems that i had with my gtx-660 had my friend with a gtx-1080

Have you ever seen video of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge? It's a little better than that.

"Multiplayer" + "fixed" ?
Are those two words even possible to be used in one sentence ?
I´ll have to google this...

it's not fixed, still a lot of desync, rubberbanding, lag, etc. etc.

Is everyone with these problems playing on a dedicated server?? Curious because it doesn't match our experience.

Dedicated server always seems to lag behind a hosted game in terms of stability/bugs/desync in my experience. For me though, dedi is the only way to go; I want the world to be there when no one is online, and I want anyone to be able to log onto it at any time.

It really depends on the server and your connection to it. I can drive cars fine sometimes, other servers have droped me through the world for dropping a rock.
