This contest is organized by the UESC community in collaboration with and sponsored by Keen Software House.

Introduction
Welcome to UESC January contest! This time around NemesisMax and me(Avendril) will be your hosts, without further ado, Here is the contest for this month!

This month you will be tasked with designing a fully working Merchant Vehicle, it has to have some storage, it has to have some living area, some place to sleep and most importantly have a proper toilet (No one likes to do the business in the grass). BUT, you are restrained to ground vehicles, they CAN NOT FLY and by flying, I mean more than 5 meters off the ground. You will see an example vehicle I made with help from Kilroy here:

As you can see, nothing too fancy, but it does the job, it is stable, can move up decent slopes, keeps a rather reasonable speed and is reasonably agile for its size and weight. This is an example of a vehicle that will give you a decent score.

Construction Requirements
  • 7500 small grid blocks
  • Must have a bathroom (sink and toilet minimum)
  • Must have a beds for at least 2 people
  • Must have a separate and distinct area for Cargo, WC, Bunk, Control Room.
  • Must be airtight for environments that do not have earth atmosphere.
  • Must be able to be driven in day and night.
  • Must have outside access point to cargo (Connector port is fine)
  • Must be able to survive a meteor shower.

How will my entry be tested?
Judges will be testing each vehicle by approaching different slopes and hills (Nothing extreme) and will try to climb them with all provided controls, Judges won't be allowed to change settings in your craft unless its on the hotbar.
Testing will be done in creative mode with cargo full of materials (probably Iron Ingots).

Well, They are going to sit on it and do 1 and 2 and flush. Also, open toilet so all can see you doing your business is a big no no.

Thats a good question! Your craft will be tested in creative with a cargo containers full of resources (Probably iron ingots) since the only difference would be fuel. I will add this to the How judges will be testing the craft.

Hmm if we want to stay vanilla do we have to do an overblown merge block door thing to keep it airtight? Or would a very snug blast door door be acceptable?

Your craft has to be airtight, thats one of the requirements, so if you want to do vanilla you will have to use hangar doors to seal the space.

Your craft has to be airtight, thats one of the requirements, so if you want to do vanilla you will have to use hangar doors to seal the space.

Hanger doors....on small grid?? :P

I might sit this one out cos i cant see a vanilla way without a massive merge block contraption to seal it, do vanilla vents even pressurise small grids?

Yea, its either your use Small Ship Mega Mod Pack or you have to play around with merge blocks to seal the space, and small Air vents do actually pressurise the small grids no problem(Had to do a quick test).

a good hill to test it for start would be Earth Start map, since it has this steep hill leading to the lake, if your ship can go down this hill and then up again, it should do fine. But I will make a test map and release it soon, maybe tommorow, maybe later today.
