Landing gear bug???
Good day to you all.
I have bought the day due to the beta status and the winter sale's.

How do you guys do with the landing gear issue?

I watched a looooot of YT video to get the basics. False luck 'cause the building system has been changed (took me like 1hour to understand why i didn't had the "new ship" icon.
Right now i get that i need to put a landing gear on my platform as first step.

Problem is I can't place it anywhere. Wanted the little one, as soon as I try to put it down it reverses to a big reverse landing gear.

Is there an EASY solution to counter that? (And I mean easy, if not i'll ask a refund)

Thanks

I am a returning player running into the exact same thing you are. it is frustrating because I am playing survivor, so building a ship is key lol

Oh my godding FRICK, this is awful. Want to build a small ship in 0G? Tough luck, toots. There's an old saying: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I'm pretty sure there isn't a saying that goes "If you break it, no stress, it'll keep."

placing landing gears the "planned" way.

first, get the LG into your hot bar.

second, activate your LG place by hitting its number, if you want to cycle between big and small hit the key twice.

third, do not aim exactly at the grid you want to create your new small LG... if it snaps onto the grid it will transform into the grid size. try to scroll the LG closer to you using the CTRL Key and your mouse wheel make sure you have a small gap between the LG and your platform.

fourth, click your mouse and you should have spawned the LG... congratulations.. you can now (in theory) build a new ship.

attention:
at the moment there is a bug with LGs that prevent them to lock onto surfaces in multiplayer (i've not tested it singleplayer).
a server restart propably fixes the not locking gears but this are rumors i've heard.

alternative way to build a small ship that does not float away (or falls to the ground) is a big rotor with a small rotor head.

be advised that it is tricky to find and hit the hitbox of that small rotor head... but if you succeed you can simply build your small ships like ever... (this problem should not occure in creative).

Regards and happy engineering.

Thank you very much for your complete answer, i'll try that :)

Another solution is to build a large landing gear upside down....then place the small landing gear on top of it and the large gear will lock it in place....proceed to build.....merry clangmas!!

The LG does not lock in SP either, most of the time.

Humm, I have not run into any issues with the large gear, are you building the large gear and then manualy locking it?.....
eMYNOCK Dec 25, 2016 @ 11:45pm
@Sammytwp

you are saying that you can lock a small gear to a large gear... that means only the small gears are affected.

i should notice that and tell it to my chief engineer... seems to be time for an upward down Large gear on our station.

Confirmed.
Currently not possible to build small ships or rovers off the ground without using large landing gear. As if building them wasn't awkward enough already...

Anybody still having trouble since the last update? I was able to get a small landing gear to lock successfully last night.

The gear will lock if you manage to have a ship already created. It will not lock initially as it was originally worked and requires some rotor gear fenagling.

Does this mean I have to completely build the rotor and attach a small rotor head or can it be framework for that workaround? Same question about the upside-down large landing gear... does it need to be completed and locked from the console to achieve locking small ship landing gear appropriately? Any help appreciated, many thanks in advance.

EDIT: went full ♥♥♥♥♥♥ at the end there...

Small landing gear still bugged.

Replying so maybe they will make this their #1 priority fix
