Those are likely the best options. I have never used one since I am real picky on where I use Rotors, Pistons, and such.
You could possibly use thruster's on a platform and maybe use autopilot and waypoints. This might be dangerous to use if you get it to work. You could setup a control buttons for going to which ever floor you want to go. Likely it is best to have just 2 floors where it can go to. I do not know if wheels might work
Also im on a vanilla world :D
Thinking maybe save 1 block height top and bottom by puttin stairs down at the top and up at the bottom. Then you save 2 blocks height the lift has to travel.
The last way more comple thing i can think of is a rotor sissor lift. Think like a cherry picker but not as complex. Just as many arms and rotors so it can fold down and make the height :)
Yeah i think i told you that, read it from a dev on these forums. Im wonering if wheel suspension with thrusters would give some cushion for it to work with destructable blocks on. Then lock it down with landing gears.
Although that setup sounds like it would attract the interest of clang......i imagine him tenting his fingers like mr burns while salavating :)
A chain with cabins on it, in one side you go up and at the other side you go down.
Cabins have to be stacked, on top of eachother, and still be flexible enough to folow the chain around. this way the elevator could be infinite hight depending on the length of the chain, and the game physics.
With stacked cabins you dont have to wait for the elevator to reach where you are, there should always be a cabin ready to step into.
problem could be speed, eg if it moves to fast you wont be able to step into or get out of a cabin.
and to get off at the propper floor there should be floor numbers at each floor instead of inside the elevator cabin.
But how to actually get started building this, i have no clue at curent time.
