Ejector Problems...
Pulling my hair out once again. I am trying to set up a ejector on my ship and it won't let me connect it anywhere, is there a trick to this. It only seems to want to work with small conveyor systems which I don't understand and I can't figure out how to hook up anything that uses small conveyor to a large conveyor system. It only seems as though if your using a large conveyor system you can't use an ejotor which I find perplexing.

You'll probably need to use the large conveyor junction for small grid ships that has 3 small ports on it. That's what I did with this drill head.

Edit: If you need I can upload that drill head to the workshop so you can download it.

Not sure if you understand, I have a large ship that uses large cargo and large conveyor, trying to figure out how to connect an ejector, the ejector only seems to work with small conveyor systems, I don't see a larhe ejector or something i can connect to a large conveyor and down scale to a small conveyor so i can attach the ejector

correct me if im wrong but cant the connectors eject cargo as well?

Not sure, they say connector ot ejector never would have thouht that, I will look at that thanks.

by the way you can put the ejectors on the connectors extra conveyor ports

I have connector installed on the ship and it has no small ports to connect a small conveyor. The small ports only seem to be on the connector if it is connected to a amsll ship with smal conveyor. It changes the size of the connector when attaching to a large conveyor system and the small ports no longer exist, I just checked.

If you connect a small ship with a connector, it will pull stuff to eject. This is how my friends and I eject stone from a large ship mining barge. We have smaller miners with ejectors/sorters that will pull from the large inventories.

If I understand correctly, You have a large grid ship and you want to put a small grid ejector on it?

The large grid connector has two settings: Collect All & Throw Out. These settings will make the connector pull everything and eject it.

If you are trying to eject stone, then (for example) I put a conveyor junction inline with a sorter set to Whitelist stone and attach another connector set to pull and eject.

That way, I keep the ore and lose the stone. Be careful of the ejected stone as it can ding up your ship real bad.

If you have another reason for wanting to eject material then I hope what I wrote above helps you, in some way, to solve your problem.

Ejector and connector are basicaly the same thing, just for some unknown reason they name the large and small grid ones differently. Both work the same, can connect and eject items through them.

Ok. Ejectors are small grid blocks only. So are small connectors. You cannot mix small grid and large grid blocks except in the case of a rotor which is not applicable to what you are describing.

To make a large grid ship eject stone you need to use Sorters and Connectors.

Edit: @Dantheotherone has described this correctly.

Thanks I went back and it seems to work but now my crafting blocks no longer pull the ingots when I instruct it to craft anything, I have to pick up the ingots and place them in the unit. Will have to try and figure out what happen. Thanks fo rthe help I am headed in the right direction now.

keep in mind that you can use sorters and connectors on small ships to eject stuff as well -> i use such setups on my miners and it dumps stone way more efficiently than array of smaller ejectors altho those can be usefull too - esp on smaller designs like small mining drones

for eg you can see 2 sorters and connectors (used to dump rock) on the bak end of this miner.

I am assuming that you are talking about the assembler?

Sometimes it loads up on one or two types of ore ingots and doesn't have space to pull in what it needs. Usually it's the ores that process at a faster rate than others.

I usually check it from time to time and move the excess to storage. In the inventory screen you can see how much space is being used.

Also if you have conveyor tubes connected to it, make sure the lights on the tubes are green, otherwise if there is a break or loss of connection or power they turn red.

If you are into using mods, there is one called TIM (Taleden Inventory Manager). I personally do not use it but with it you can set limits on amounts.

Of course this is only armchair diagnosing as I can't lay hands on the problem but overload happens from time to time for me.

Addendum: Be sure to check and make sure 'Use Conveyor System' is turned on in the assembler settings.

Thanks Buddy, got it now :)
