also as wolf says the nanite factory mod is a really good one to get as well just be aware the nanite factory requires a lot to build
Also does the nanite mod more or less auto build entire ships from projections as long as it has all the required materials?
Yes. But you must be careful that you have the componets necessary.
Here is a tutorial that will help you out. It's old but this part of the game has not changed.

Edit: One tactic I use is to strip blueprints down one layer at a time and make a separate blueprint for each layer. This will enable you to see that you do not leave a block unbuilt.
The only cavet about this method is when you hang gyros from the ceiling.
the control panel will show ya blocks that are incomplete, this coupled with the show on hud option allows ya to pinpoint incompletes.
You can also use this feature before you start building for inventory management.
Project your ship then sit at a command station and switch back and forth from the projector to the assembler and your inventory.
Turn off the assembler.
Then let's say your ship requires 100 Light Armor blocks. Queue them up with Shift and Block repeat this process for every block listed.
Then spend a minute consolidating all the plates, construction components, etc into a single pile.
Then examine your inventory. If you need 9526 steel plates and you have 1500 in inventory then right click on the steel plates in the assembler's queue to delete them and requeue 8100.
Repeat this process with all your components.
Then you can look at the ore requirements and see if you have enough. If you are short on a particular ore (like silver) then move the components around so that the ones that need silver are last and turn on the assembler. REPEAT TURN IT ON and go gather some silver.
This way when you come back you have components to build with and you don't get 95% complete and have to run off to gather ore only to be 99% complete and have to do it a gain.
