High-Altitude Planet?
My recent survival has me somewhat perplexed. I've landed in the valley of sorts with mountans surrounding me, and everywhere I go it says Low-02. I've gone 20+km out, and everything is the same, low 02. Atmo thrusters are, naturally, not working anywhere remotely near 100.

My 60km mass small ship with 3 vertical Large atmo + 6 vertical small thrusters takes a couple hundred meters to come to a complete stop after a freefall at 100 m/s.

Has anyone encountered a default planet where everything is high altitude/low-02?

what planet? what size?

Earth, standard size. Vanilla planet.
Sounds like a bugged game world, did you try another new one?

This can happen, there are some area like this on earth planet.
You have to find a better spot.

When I start a new game and if I'm in this area I just restart to respawn elsewhere.

I'm not even wanting a different spot, honestly. It's pushing me to get into Hydrogen faster. Usually I operate at a snail's pace and build a huge base before I think about going planetside. Right now, and for the first time, I'm having to consider hydrogen-atmo ship designs JUST to move around efficiently around the planet.

I would love it if this was a game option. "Low atmosphere density earth" without the deathly-low o2 of Mars

I believe the alien planet is low atmosphere all the time. I can't remember if atmospheric thrusters work at full there or not. Same with mars.
if you are on some of the earth mountains it can happen to be a relativly low gravity, these spots use i usually for soem sort of spaceport ;) and at 0.2g you can already operate with ion thrusters to lift a ship into space.

the alienplanet has a higehr gravity of 1.5 max and yes the atmospheric thrusters working there fully. the armosphere is thicker but with less oxygen than on eartlike planet, so the atmospheric thrusters are more powerfull but you cant breath without suckign the air in over a airvent ant converitng it so to useable air inside a closed room.

on more the atmosphere is thinner so the atmospheric thrusters ar eles effective, but the lower gravity of 0.9 compensates it mostly. on mars the atmosphere has no oxygen, so you cant suck the air in to make it breathable.

i've been more of a moon dweller, on my current file i've built on a orbiting moon of mars, and on a side facing mars, with the sun almost always visible. its gonna be a hydrogen refueling port of sorts. low grav + tons of ice to mine = EZ mode hydrogen farming.
