Yes. I think the hard limit is something like 600,000 blocks.
On comparing to Minecraft: MC has chunk unloading, where SE does not (I believe). MC with redstone/minecarts doesn't work well if they are 128 or so blocks away from a player.
but when you get into the mega builds that are over 100k blocks for 1 ship your running into a ship thats gonna take a lot to process when it starts moving. not to mention that will be one massive ship to render.
I'll recommend no more than 90 000 blocks < that is already an absurdly big build.
