Correct. If you watch the video carefully, the large ship is above, not in the direction of the stone. But are correct, this was a basic drill setup, to easily understand how it works, as stated in the video. :)
Edit: If you fly slow, the stones are armless. so it is acceptable to drill a hole, have it filled with some stones and backup out of it at low speed. I don't know if Keen reversed this but I thought that they made floating stone armless to ship in some update ago, so people couldn't weaponize them anymore. Or maybe I just dreamed.
I'm returning after a long break and did notice ships are more resistant to slow bumps these days. I used to regularly damage my small builders (welder/grinder) trying to get to tight spots but in the last couple of weeks, I've only lost a single welder block and that was from misjudging stopping distance and slamming into my station at a reasonable speed. Actually expected my builder to disintegrate at that point lol. i'll have to test to see if they nerfed stone based weapons one of these days, I'll be collecting stone soon for parachute testing anyway :)
That also works to scale.
I have floating objects at a default of 56, and mining ships with 28 ejectors/connectors. Stone is gone in 2 seconds.
Vanilla, there is no small gravity gen i think
They have indeed increased the thoughness of tools.
Edit, freaking typos. I need my coffee. :D
Spherical one is avalible for small grid ;)
Ah, never found a useful purpose for that block, so I never did built it, or try even.
Same here. Iv toyed with small grid grav cannon ideas in my head but never settled on something that wouldnt veer off course with the slightest mouse movement.
Its cool to use with collectors though to catch those few loose peieces drills can sometimes throw out :)
Exactly, One useful use would be to build a ore collector for when you drill in space, an early game benefit.
