Merge blocks are more stable but can be more tricky when it come to detachment.
For some reason they tend to go boom if you disconect while moving.
Rotors just have a tendancy to go boom in general.
yep, I forgot to mention that it will be an unmanned rocket and I want to control it all by remote.
Im a bit afraid form explosion so I'll try the "landing gear method"... :P Im worried too about how the game will interpret different stage... anyway Ill try.
Last doubt: if I attach 2 different stage by landing pad Ill be cabable of use engine of a separate stege without remote control or I have to build an RC for every stage?
(sorry for my english)
mmmm, how about the "boom theory"?
I add retro rockets to slow the ejected segment of ship.
weight is the issue in both the game and RL. using oxy gens and ice is very inefficient compared to carrying pre-filled hydrogen tanks. Dropping empty tanks along with extra hydrogen engines you no longer need allows you to make the next stage lighter. We also have parachutes now so the stages could be reusable.... and the real reason; it would be fun :)
I've build it once and it took like 3 weeks to test it.

I've edited it because people these days can't watch video's longer than 2 minutes.
This is the most useful ship i've ever build:
- hydrogen launch : stage 1 (tried it in survival, there is enough fuel)
- ion orbit base : stage 2 (with auto-stop feature so it won't crash onto the planet when disconnecting it)
- hydrogen lander : stage 3 (has inner connectors so you can load the rocket from 1 connector to the base)
- total fuel report script
- total oxygen report script
- ship inventory script
- battery status report script
- launch status report script ( stage 1, 2, 3 , disconnect piston etc)
As the rule goes, anything is justifiable if it is sufficiently cool.
I playing single player, in a open solo world I had to set my own goals, no matter if pointless ;)
now im proudly tryng to build a schiaparelli-like mission to mars! :D
edit: thanx lexe ;)
