Low sim speed despite having resources?
So I've been building around, having occassional freezes (nothing too drastic) and my sim speed was at 1.0. Then, when I started to fly around with my ship, it just dropped to 0.15 (still at 60FPS). Game says that I'm at 99% CPU/GPU but my PC says I'm barely at 40%... Any fix for that?

That's not really a solution. Sure I can when I'm doing something in Creative but I want to do some survival and I can't just start new world whenever my sim speed drops...

How much have you built on the game world?

Is it on a server if so it could be an issue with the server or your connection to hte server.

When game says that you are 99% CPU/GPU it means that for that specific framerate it used all time for that. So for example:

You have 60fps, it means that CPU and GPU have 16ms to update and render frame. 100% CPU/GPU means that it took 16ms to do that. It has nothing to do with overall CPU usage of your computer.

Those two numbers are helpful if you want to know what HW is bottleneck. If you see that CPU is not around 90ish and your GPU is 99-100 it means that you are GPU bound. Your GPU is slow. If you see it otherway around you are CPU bound. Your CPU is slow.

That said, it looks like these numbers are too complex for you guys to understand so we will move them somewhere, so it don't confuse you.

"That said, it looks like these numbers are too complex for you guys to understand so we will move them somewhere, so it don't confuse you." Wow... how about, giving it a proper name? Funny thing is. He could not help you with your problem ;) ... I dont know how many Cors you have. But 40% CPU could also mean. That one CORE (for example the one who is calculating the Havoc Physic) is at 100%. If thats the case the Game has to slow down. Could you test it ?

Thats cool leave em where they are. They are usefull for a lot of us.....dont hide em away somewhere :)

As far as i know whe have multicore support now, thats where some of the extra performance has come from :)

So I'm kinda lost. Sim speed is not dependant on available resources of your PC? Because usually when something runs slower, it's because of
1) Game being poorly optimized (don't know if that's the case with SE, haven't played it a lot)
2) Running out of resources like RAM etc.

Anyway, is there a solution to improve my sim speed?

Check if you are not running some broken mod. Check if you don't have to much objects in the world. You can use SHIFT-F1 to see performance warnings.

I would grab the ship you are trying to fly and move it to a new world temporarily, with the mods, just to see if the sim speed drops there. If it still slows down, start removing mods 1 at a time, or try the Shift+F1 thing(haven't tried this before). If you can fly normally in the new world, then try temporarily pasting your ship well away from your base and all, then fly it, see if that helps. It's all just process of elimination.
