Where's my body?

Hi there I usually play survival and it's been a few version since I last played, I remember that when I crashed/splatted myself and died I could respawn and get there to retrieve my tools and components but now the game marks the location where my body is but there's no body.

what am I doing wrong?

The body disappears very quickly, like within 8 seconds or so.
So if you don't spawn next to, or very near, your corpse, there's no chance of getting your stuff back.

damn... so they changed it? goodbye to my platinum tools while I'm trying my best to survive stranded on a planet while the fauna, drones and asteroid showers try to kill me

Well, the body dissapears, but the backpack stays around until you empty it or die a few times, so your stuff is still around, yay, but the bad news is that your death is splatting; AKA dying and sending your body clipping into the voxel never to be seen again also somtimes on planets when the body dissapears the backpack decides to clip into the planet aswell, especially the case when in a hole/divot (Also remember that if you are holding a tool it will be dropped independently and not be in the backpack)

I know the body itself vanishes, and suposed to leave the pack, but a lot of times lately I noticed the pack itself is gone too, but this only happens on planets. Maby they fall threw the world?

Well my paragraph above explains exactly that :P

Yes the body disappears and the backpack falls through the world

i have almost never gotten my pack back on planets.
