Large ship gatlings
it sounds ridiculous to put massive gatling guns on large ships, but imagine a massive minigun which launches like flak or something for large ships, since all they have at the moment is tiny missiles

Mods scratch that itch for me but a large ship vanilla equivalent would be nice

In America we put massive miniguns on our aircraft often times, works out pretty well.

But yeah, if you want big battleship cannons MWI is a good pack.

that doesn't seem as rediculous as smaller 5mm gun turrets that can not be used on small grids.

That dont sound that ridiculous, when you look at name of 5mm turret, what is a "INTERIOR Turret". Interrior is self-explainatory. Small grids are not used for building bases or stations, like large ones. So why you would have INTERIOR turret on EXTERIOR of your ship? that sound ridiculous.

I do this all the time for looks. The normal vanilla turrets look silly on smaller large grid ships so i ise interior turrets. One of the pirate drones does same thing :)

in this case im sure that people interested in adding interior turret to small grid ship, can find themselves a nice mod which add such feature :)

I always felt the interior turret was an excellent point defense weapon, myself. You can just stick them anywhere on the hull, you don't need to bother with that silly 3x3 spacing requirement, and you don't often *need* many bullets to deal with incoming missiles and asteroids, so fewer are wasted by its lower fire rate.

i went bonkers and attached a small block rig via landing gear and connector to my large ship.

i think it was about, 20-30 gatling guns, attached to an advanced rotor and all piped together in a nice round cone shape.

this tore ass through anything in front of it and made a really cool sound.

downside, pitching and yawing the large ship fast enough resulted in structural damage detatching the gat mount from the ship. so its limiting but fun.

I used an advanced rotor on a large ship, replaced the large ship head with one of a small ship, then built a manually controllable turret on top with 100 gatling guns. Thing made layers of heavy armor look like tissue paper.

Also, neato meeting you here too.
