Is there any way to disable the Auto Pickup ore/items feature?
I'm really tired of just looking at a pile of stone I've dropped out of my inventory and lo and behold in just a split second it is back in my inventory after I accidently nudged the mouse and glanced at one of the large piles of stone that are sitting around.

Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks in Advance!

The issue I have is that when you drop a pile of stone on the ground, when you hit it with the drill, it automaticly picks it up.

EDIT: I should clarify....If you drop stone on the ground, and you want to mine the spot that the stone was dropped on, the dropped stone gets picked up and put back into your inventory when you start mining.

So right-click to destroy isn't working for you?

Right clicking to destory? (Are you asking me or mrdanlb?) I know you can do that in creative mode but, as for me I'm in survival mode and seem to have a auto pickup everything (Ores & Items) thing going on,when I just look at them (like when they been dropped on the ground, for example.)

With any ship tool and the hand drill right click will destroy stuff without picking up. So if youu want a tunnel threough a stane asteroind and dont want the stone, use right click. Or if you want to grind ships down without collecting parts hold right click instead :)

Learned something new, Thanks! Is this a fairly new feature? I don't think I've have run into this issue in the relative recent past?

Also thanks Karmaterrorᵁᴷ for the info, but still doersn't stop me from picking stuff up, the right click delete thing is neat, but what if it's a item or resource I want to keep.

For example, I recently wanted to expand my base's foundation. What I had forgotten however was that I had been storing my gravel in a spot I was expanding towards... so I ended up having to move 100 k of gravel by hand (since it was being auto picked up when I looked at it). I wouldn't have wanted to destroy my stockpile of gravel. So Help?

use collectors to pick up loose items
zignotzag Jan 27, 2017 @ 6:46pm
I have always had to interact with loose objects to pick them up. You sure you dont have a key stuck down or something?
CreepingSickness Jan 27, 2017 @ 8:25pm
material defender: The gravel was on the ground in what had been before my expansion an out of the way spot. Since it was already at ground level I figured I didn't need a collector, besides it was practically right next to my stone refinary.

zignotzag: Yeah, I 've always had to press the (T) key ti interact with stuff as well. I don't think it was getting stuck (at least not noticably in game) as I was working on writting up a project shortly after my gaming session and had no problems stuck T's then.

Thanks Guys!

Anyone else have any thoughts on my problem as I'm still encountering it?

Typical stuff like "Using any mods?" "Verfied game cache?"

Since you mention the (T) key, your keybindings are the highest suspect for me. It is (F) for me with default keybindings for a while now.

Shadedmj: Yes, I Verfied the game cache just the other day, unfortunately that didn't seem to help. As for mods I don't have any new ones installed I didn't have before this started. And no, I have never re-bound any of the keys and for me the interact key has always been the (T) key.

Thank you for your thoughts!

Any other ideas?

there is not auto pick up in SE

I'll restate differently. Interact was (T) at one time, then they changed it to (F). You have (T) because you are using outdated default keybindings. I'm suggesting you go into Options/Controls/Navigation and press <default> to set up the new default keybindings.

There was a time when building ships was very hard for me because KSH changed keybindings and I still had the old default ones. 75% of new blocks didn't place because my old default keybindings didn't work with this version of Space Engineers. Updating keybindings fixed the problem.

<edit> Current default for (T) is reset orientation on the systems 3 menu.

Shadedmj: Oh, okay I'll try that then and see if it solves the problem. If it turns that is the case and they were in fact just outdated it would make me wonder why I haven't had any such problems up until just very recently?

I think op is refererring to a bug, when left mouse is kinda "stuck" after interacting with something.
I have this thing too, after they introduced interaction with left mouse when nothing is equipped.
How to repro:
Press ~ to unequip tool.
Aim at something interactable (connector or conveyour port for example), so it would highlight yellow.
Press left mouse. Inventory will open, close it.
Now if you aim at mined piece of ore it would pick up.
Workaround is to press right mouse button while not aiming at anything, this will "unstuck" left mouse interaction.

I thought about that differently for a second. I cannot duplicate your issue and I don't think I can no matter how hard I try. Automatic pickup is not a feature. This is a repeat of what SpetS said, and I'd trust him more than me on this.

Sure you don't have a mod like "Automatic Ore Pickup"?
