Transferring hydrogen between grids
I have a station on a moon surface, and a large ship docked to it via connector. The ship is all hydrogen propulsion, so it has its own complement of Oxygen Generators and Hydrogen Tanks. The tanks are all full, the generators are well-stocked with ice, and the thrusters are shut down. The station does not have oxygen generators. Station O2 is supplied by rooftop Oxygen Farms.

Oxygen Farms don't produce hydrogen, but I would nonetheless like the station to keep one big tank of hydrogen around as a reserve for spacesuits. If possible, I want to do this without building an Oxygen Generator on the station. I figured I could just let the ship fill the tank, and it would last for a long while.

I built the tank and connected it to the conveyor system. I confirmed that I can access a hatch in the station, place a personal hydrogen bottle into the station's hydrogen tank, and transfer it back and forth to the ship's tank via conveyor. I confirmed that all tanks and all oxygen generators, ship and station, are turned on. I confirmed that all of the ship's hydrogen tanks are not stockpiling, and I tried stockpile on and off for the station tank. The station tank is not filling.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this not possible?

Never mind. Either something I did while building a conveyor-attached medical room kicked it loose, or it just took time to start. The tank is full now, and the ship is in the process of topping itself off.

That's because your oxygen gens on your ship filled it. But a quicker way is to go into control panel find the hydrogen tank on your base, then checkmark the stockpile option. This will grab any hydrogen from other tanks like the ones on your ship and fill its tank.

I definitely did that early on, then sat and watched the tank not fill. So it took either time or messing with the conveyor system to get it going.

I'm going to Necro the heck out of this becuase this still happens in 2022 and google lead me here when I was trying to figure out how to fix it. I was building a ship grid with a landing gear and piston+connector, connected to my base grid. I did all the things I was supposed to to no avail. What fixed it, was to unlock my greened up connector and then just relock it. Immediataly started transfering. Nothing else worked. Hope this helps some one who stumbles here from google.

We just have to set the tank on "stockpile" so it can take the Hydrogen on the line.
