How do I Organize Inventories?
Hi guys,
I'm working on building a massive mobile base, and I noticed that if I build an Assembler, a Refinery, and then a second Assembler, my connected inventoy page will show those blocks in that order.

How do I tell the inventory page to group all assemblers together so that I don't have to go scrolling through just to find my second assembler?

Thanks!

The easy explanation is to use the search function in top of the inventory page..
Example wirte "assem" and you get a list of all of your assemblers... and REF refinery ect ect.
To be honest I am glad you ask the quesiton and i hope someon can give you a good explanation i can read and try..
Example the refinery or assembler do not automatic send finished product to example a connected temp container.
I do however thing the game have some issues regarding usage of sorting blocks and converys and it is not possible to sort things 100% automatic, but lets see what people respond ;-)

You can group items together by selecting them, typing a name on the right, and clicking 'save'.

They will then appear at the top of the list.
I don't think that works in the inventory page. Just the console page.

I always just put it in the name of the object.

For example: I have a mobile station called Galaxian Atlas. All of its cargo containers have the the letters GXA at the end. One of them has GXC, which is the components. A welder ship called the BumbleBee - BBE...etc.

Large Cargo Container - GXC

Medium Cargo Container - BBE

So when I want to move things manualy around I filter to those letters.

^ this - a simple consistant naming convention is the way to go!

Take the extra few seconds to name most all of your objects right after theyre built - saving it for later may be a daunting task. Also helps when you dock ships to identify the ships - Sometimes its good to use a bit of the ships ID in the name you give

Great idea I'll be using this from now on most likely

I know this might be slightly off topic but I'd suggest looking at the TIM script for inventory management as well.

It's one thing to be able to find stuff quickly by re-naming everything, but it's another entirely when the system sorts itself and moves things automatically for you. AFAIK set the TIM script up correctly and then every time you connect the BBE up; TIM will automatically re-stock it's parts quota's for instance.
