Sorter not pulling "ALL" items HELP
So im trying to make a ship to do some weilding for me in SP Survial. Ive finally got finshed building the parts i need to make it run no armor yet. Im trying to use a sorter to pull componets only down into the cargo container.

The problem i have its it only pulls Motors, Construction Componets, and Computers. Not my Steel Plates, Large Steel Tubes, and Interior Plates (maybe a few others havent tested all iver).

I have the filter set to White List, Drain All, *Componets. But even when i add Steel Plates from the filter list by its self or with the other one it still wont pull them. Witht he filter it also stops pulling Hydrogen down to my ships tanks, as its a short range vessle i need it to fill up of the spawn ship.

Here is a screen Shot of how ive connected it all:

Note how i still have alot of stuff that should end up in the Target Inventory.

I reckon those items wont pass through the small ports / small conveyor

Ah that could be it, never even thought that could be a problem. After all it wont even let me drag em down manualy.

Do you know if theres a way i can get the Hydrogen to flow into my tanks as well. I have a way i can get it to work again but then i make a loop and my sorter has a field day with it.

Set the tanks you want to fill to "stockpile" then they should pull from a connected source

Didnt work it just moved what i had in the other tank (got 2) into the first one (both turned to stockpile) It dosent seem to wanna pull gas down through the sorter. But it will fill it if i replace the sorter with a normal conveyer.

Ive never pulled gas through a sorter - does anyone know if it works? I'm not so sure it does.

Its a bit stupid if it dosent as theres no filter option for me to enable it. And then i get stuck with i want to auto fill my ship with certain items. But i can no longer Refil my ship. Unless at this point a break it all down so i get put atleast one armour block between the cargo and the tanks so that i can fill them. Since the other conveyers will move it. Hell my batterys are even filling so why shouldnt i get gas.

well its a bit tricky -> but basically you have to put the sorter "backwards"
Aka normally if you wanted to Push/pull items from A to B you would put A->Sorter->B
but with gases it you want to move gas from A to B you will have to put it other way around Aka A<-sorter<-B this will enable gas to move from A to B.

it is sorta counter intuitive -> dont know why keen did it that way -> its seems sorta like a bug or a design flaw.

Very interesting! I'll have to give it a try.

Yer just did it trying to stop items looping (hadent come back here yet) and now my gases flow correctly. Strange way of doing it too the point the headaches it has given me nearly had me throwing in the towel on the whole game.

The more I think of it, passing gas thru conveyor sorters isnt really optimal. And passing gas in a space suit is not recomeded at all :)

While i app the joke atm that is the best way to go -> imagine the chaos if we had to use additional dedicated pipes to allow flow for each gas aka one set of pipes for oxy , another set for hydrogen, another set for but.t gases) -> so jokes aside current conv system might not be perfect but it is efficient -> aka it could be a lot worse. and that would translate into much bigger designs (aka more clunky and way more suspectible for damage).

hydrogen and oxygen flow simultaniously and omnidirectionaly thru single tube runs without need for conveyor sorters and no need to have multiple runs for each gas. but everyone can experiment and develop their own methods - thats one of the things about this game that many folks enjoy IMO

Yer but in my case i had to put on a sorter so i could "Auto Pull" my items, this makes building with my weild ship alot more easier. But as a result now i cant fill up my tanks, im in early game survial and this ships are short distance and hell atleast i can do more then refine uranium constantly now.

So i had to throw on a seconed line since i put a stop gap betwwen my Container and my Tanks so i could actually get gas into my tanks. But now i decide i really want some oxy so i dont run out why building and die. But then i was back to problem A with i had a loop.

At this point i think im up ♥♥♥♥ creek if i want to breath i have a loop, so i go ah ill throw in a sorter stopping the items comeing out. But then i realise (so i think) the sorter will stop the gas from flowing. In the end i just make it for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles and too my suprise its flowing.

But in short if your after a set up with a filter to pull items to another ship like i was you will haft to install too lines. One in one out. Thats what i think he was trying to say.

I guess OP could get the parts and gas through a single connector

aka connector -> behind it a large sorter which would be connected to his storage containers

as for tanks and gases -> from the small port on the connector pull a line to the hydrogen/oxygen tanks. You could also add a small inverted conv sorter (with black listed items) there (to suck the gases in but keep items from being pushed from the ships hold).

Sounds like my current set up. it goes Connector --> Sorter (large) --> Storage. Then to fill my tanks i went on small line Tanks --> Sorter (small) --> Connector (via small port)

So always one connector its just 2 conveyor lines (on the small ship not the base)
