A bit too powerfull for digging in details
When I'm in my small mining ship, I have the ship drill in my hotbar to put it on or off pressing the corresponding number (i.e. 2 in my case). I don't use the drill using the mouse, and pressing right button doesn't change anything, the drill goes on collecting stone.
I'm sure I miss something... could you explain how you mine with right mouse button for my slow brain, thanks.
Go to your hotbar selection screen
On left you will see a header "Weapons and tools"
Get the drills from there instead of from all blocks section
Now when you press that number it makes the ship drills work as hand drill
Right click to mine big left click to mine small :)
PS its worth keeping the On/Off Toggle there so you dont have to hold click all the time.
Also this is how you get your rocket launchers/ gattling guns to fire from mouse click ;)
But in general: if the same block shows up in both "weapons/tools" and "blocks", the icons behave differently. For weapons/tools, clicking it makes it the active weapon/tool which will be used with left/right mouse. For blocks, you choose the action from a menu, and that action will be performed when pressing the key. Pay attention to the description; e.g. for connectors, you have both "on/off" and "switch lock" (the former is the default, the latter is more useful).
