Digging...
Hi!

I'd like to know if there is a way to dig fast a cavern to make my base and a hangar to build my ships.
With handdrill, you can use right button, but it's not very fast, neither precise for direction without reference points. And with a small ship to drill, I collect great masses of stone which makes my ship heavy and finally fall down... too boring emptying it every minute to avoid falling...

Is there a way to use ship drill without collecting all stone.

Oh I just thought it collects nothing more when the drill inventory is full. But this means more powerful thruster to maintain level on a planet (even underground).

Right clicking will mine a much larger area with ship and hand drills but no resources will drop, perfect for eating away all that pesky stone! :steamhappy:

Just use a warhead ; )

How do you mine with a ship drill right clicking. It does nothing!

I tried a warhead, but it destroyed a part of my already built base.....:steamfacepalm:
A bit too powerfull for digging in details :2016skull:

left/right clicking in a ship is the same as the hand drill. you just need to make sure you have the right tool on your hotbar, and have it selected :)

Sorry, I must be a bit stupid, I don't understand what is to be done...
When I'm in my small mining ship, I have the ship drill in my hotbar to put it on or off pressing the corresponding number (i.e. 2 in my case). I don't use the drill using the mouse, and pressing right button doesn't change anything, the drill goes on collecting stone.
I'm sure I miss something... could you explain how you mine with right mouse button for my slow brain, thanks. :2016dig:

bind numbers 1 2 and 3 to mouse buttons, simply as that :)

Go to your hotbar selection screen
On left you will see a header "Weapons and tools"
Get the drills from there instead of from all blocks section
Now when you press that number it makes the ship drills work as hand drill
Right click to mine big left click to mine small :)

PS its worth keeping the On/Off Toggle there so you dont have to hold click all the time.

Also this is how you get your rocket launchers/ gattling guns to fire from mouse click ;)

Thanks a lot! It works nice! I would never have guessed that it was not the same behaviour... Are there many such "hidden" functionalities in the game? I've never seen that in any video or guide either. Does it exist a guide or something with these "special" commands or behaviours ?

No idea. Few people can be bothered to make guides. Lots of people make videos, but you can't really search those.

But in general: if the same block shows up in both "weapons/tools" and "blocks", the icons behave differently. For weapons/tools, clicking it makes it the active weapon/tool which will be used with left/right mouse. For blocks, you choose the action from a menu, and that action will be performed when pressing the key. Pay attention to the description; e.g. for connectors, you have both "on/off" and "switch lock" (the former is the default, the latter is more useful).

double right clicking with a hand drill will cause it to automatically continue drilling out large areas without dropping resources
