Game has been broken for years, will there ever be a fix?
I've tried this on four different machines over the course of owning this game and I always have the same problem.

The game opens, and says "Press Start to Continue." Start is not actually the start button, but whatever. The controller mapping option comes up. Once I hit "Very well" (where B is actually A) the game crashes. If I refuse, I can go to the settings page. But as soon as I open that up it crashes again.

I would really love to be able to play this game again. I've posted this issue in many places many times but I've never been given an answer.

This has been on multiple machines (laptops and desktops), multiple OSes (OSX, Win 7, Win 10), and multiple controllers (PS3 and XB360) and the result has always been the same. I can share my current system specs if it'll help, but given the wide variety of hardware and software I've used with the same end result, I'm not entirely convinced it's helpful.

Hi sumshine, I'm using Windows 7 and a generic joistick with the x360ce controller emulator (http://www.x360ce.com/) and all is working perfectly.
Try it, and tell me if it help you.

Only just noticed this reply. The emulator doesn't seem to be compatible with Win 10 :(

Thanks for the suggestion though

The game has issues with overlay programs. Deactivate Fraps, Plays.tv, Raptr or anything similar.

I don't use any program of the sort. I can try disabling Steam Overlay but I feel like I've tried that once before.

Yes, the Steam overlay is no problem.
You could try re-installing the Microsoft VC++ libraries. They come with the game and are easy to find in the games sub-directory. Just an idea. I tried many things before I found out the reason for my problem was Plays.tv.

I gotcha. I reached out to one of the devs on Twitter a while back. Said to DM him my issue but never heard back. I'm pretty sure I've reinstalled those libraries too but there's never any harm in trying again. Thanks for the suggestion!
