My game doesn't work -> How to fix.
Most crashes during loading or startup are related to outdated drivers or using the wrong graphics processor in case of laptops. Check if your operating system is 32 bit or 64 bit since there are 2 different versions for every driver.

1. Update your JAVA installation.

Make sure you are not using a java 32 bit version for a 64 bit operating system, it will give you troubles. Best thing to do this is to uninstall all your current java versions and install the latest one found right here: https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

If you are on Mac OS X, use this download from Apple to install a compatible version of Java: http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1572

2. Update your GPU drivers.
3. Disable intel HD graphics if you have a dedicated GPU

I can't stress this enough for laptop users. Some laptops come equipped with both intel HD graphics and an onboard GPU. the intel HD graphics is most of the time the default one being used which means all that power of your laptop is not even being used!

There are several youtube videos out there that show you how to disable this one and use your onboard AMD or nvidia gpu.

4. If you only have intel HD graphics, update the drivers.

Again, updating your drivers is key. These can be found here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx?lang=eng

5. Nothing worked! What now?

There are several options you can try.

the offline have all inside and you can download it once and dont need a internetconnection when you install it (on a offlibe computer as example) and i am sure online is now clear what it is.

Control panel search ? When you mean where can you find the control panel of java its here :

Nevermind this is way too complicated
really ? you must download a program and install it. Thats all. hundert thousand of Minecraft kids have done it.

Here is the link
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html

x86 is for 32 bit Os and x64 is for 64 bit OS. Download it, install it. thats all.

This is just way too much programming work just to play a game.
I'll give this a try tomorrow, I just spend the last 7 hours trying to get quake running
maninredagain 30. aug. 2015 kl. 1.33
So I wanted to try the demo, it goes up until all those settings for resolution and whatnot, opens a new window from starting there for about a second, then it gets closed again, no error message, no nothing. In task manager there is no .exe I don't know so I guess the game gets terminated somehow.
I updated Java (just to check if it works then), just the same.
So I'm out of this game, especially if I read about needing "programming" in the replies above.

Have you an laptop or mac ? Then you need JDK not only JRE java.
Install it and it run:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html

If you have another graphics-card in your computer, tell your computer to execute java via GPU only. (In the case of NVidia cards you can do this in the "NVidia Control center")
Adding "javaw.exe" to program list in control center and setting it to 'GPU only' usually fixes it,
This is the 'power saving GPU' that may have issues with full GL support and may cause the shaders to crash on startup.
maninredagain 30. aug. 2015 kl. 4.09
Just setting javaw.exe to the Nvidia card was enough, thanks.
The game itself looks interesting, I will examine it more thoroughly when I have the time for it.

I started testing this, it might be a bit more complicated then I want to play. Work around to my problem is at the end.

I already have JRE 8 update 60 installed 64 bit. I installed the Steam Demo of Starmade. On clicking on the 'play' button or double clicking on the Starmade entry in my library Java would instantly crash. "Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working"

So after a bit of reading this forum and other websites concerning Starmade I read about the System Checker Utility and got the following:

Starmade System Checker Report
Thu 09/17/2015
5:53:22.21

RESULTS:
Windows version: Windows 7 64-bit ....PASS
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
Memory: 6144MB RAM
Graphics Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 ....PASS
Java version: 64-bit Java 8 ....PASS

So everything passed but the game still doesnt start from the STEAM entry.

I navigated to the install directory and double clicked on the exe: Starmade-starter.exe

AND IT WORKS.

So if you have the correct version of Java installed and it crashing is the first thing you see you might want to start the exe directly.

PS my main Windows profile is on a different drive then my windows install, it matters for Dragon Age: Inquisition unfortunately and thats the ONLY game that seems to care. I mention it because it might matter here too and my work around would not apply too many people.

When you have installed java fresh an restart can help or a steam restart is sometimes the fix too.
On Desktops there is normal not this problem.

Your in 9 month the first one who helps this.

So, I followed everything it said, but I have one problem, when I press "Start Game" it closes, originally, it shows a menu, but it just crashes.
Arsat 26. sep. 2015 kl. 17.15
So the problem is in the first launcher ?

What hardware, OS and what java you have installed ?

Have you something changed int he first launcher ? Memory setting ?

NVM, set the allocated memory higher than max memory.
