How to find pirates (not stations)

so i have been playing the game for around 10 horus now but i havnt seen a single pirates beside station which i cant get near cause it lags me out

heard they have some good loot !

isnt there patroll's and such ?

Could be waiting for a long time before a patrol passes your way. Try shooting a missile at a station and luring the back up ships away from it.

pirates seem to start showing up after you've built a station with a little bit of mass, patrols start coming into range of your station. If you build a station 3-4 sectors away from a pirate station you'll see them showing up more often.

When I want to hit up some pirates, I explore to find pirate stations.

I can throw a couple of rockets at the pirate station to get it to call for reinforcements or I can use my long range scanner to locate pirates in the area.
