Remote Module Usage?
Hey there, everyone. I just have a general question- but first, some context:

For a few days now, Ive been working on a modular system of shipbuilding, intended for use by the terminally lazy. For all intents and purposes, I bult a barge structure to serve as a "ship supercore", that you can add on modules and more barges with different roles (drop pod bay, drone hangar, torpedo launcher pods, etc) to allow for infinite expansion to ships, with minimal effort. Think of it as being a standardized set of legos that connect in anyway you want.

For example -> Main Core Barge->Jettisonable Airlock -> Barge Covered in Turrets->Airlock -> Torpedo Tube

Anywho- When docking these additions to the main core, I find myself unable to actually use them without having to exit my core, and walk over to manually activate them within the docked entity. I have tried all sorts of convoluted logic, but simply cannot control the entities from my main core.

Is there a way to use these from the main ship, or is that not possible?

If you are having problems understanding my issue, let me know and I will broadcast the gameplay to show you.

It depends on what you mean by "use these from the main ship". You cannot pilot them remotely, but you can trigger weapons, rail movement, and any logic circuits you have on them. To do this, you need to use pairs of Wireless Logic Modules for each function you want to trigger.

If you also want to trigger them while in flight mode, you will need to add an Inner Ship Remote for each function as well.
This video is still accurate, even though some of the block textures have changed a little: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L53nva7WVUo

Nice! Thank you!

This idea also occured to me at some point. You can do it using the wireless logic activation blocks, have one of your main ship, and connect it to the module. Then connect the first wireless logic block to a remote ship activation block (i think that's what it's called) and you are able to name it and put it on the toolbar which is usable while sitting inside your ship's core.

Yeah. I figured it out. Now I can bombard planets, hotdrop marine pods, jettison multiple damaged parts, and even start lightshows from my main barge. Trying to goof around and see what else I can do, now.

I had a kind of autopilot using push modules + a pulser logic circuit. Could also be used to set up auto mining salvager beams. I also had an eleborate missle system set up with an inner ship remote that would launch them out at all directions at the press of a button

Yeah. This is what I did witht the new knowledge. I've massively upgraded it as a whole, though, and will post the upgraded version, as well as a new variant tonight.
