StarMade

File Permissions completely restricted; I can't delete the game or install it because of access denied.
Exactly what the title says. I can't delete the game files and neither can steam. I can also not play the game as access is denied when steam tries to update it, and the game files can't be wiped for a clean install.

It sounds like you are not the administrator of your PC? It doesn't sound like a steam or starmade problem. I am not an expert in these matters but that is my first guess.

Completely wrong. I'm the only administrator on my pc. I've tried multiple solutions. Everything fails. Uninstalling through steam fails.
I've refunded the game and yet I still have these broken files on my computer forever.
Then find the directory it is in under your steam installation and delete it that way.

I wouldn't post here if it was that simple. I've tried EVERYTHING.
The only way I got the game to run was installing it to another directory entirely. The original restricted files are still in steamapps even now. Deleting them manually is impossible; I can't change the permissions at all. Two are even set to unreadable.

I have the exact same problem.
I am admin, i have set up all the right necessary , tried to change the user in security . NOTHING WORKS.
Either it's says it's used in a running program or i don't have the access right or it can't read the file and i can't uninstall anything !
Now i'm forced to run a duplicate that, sometimes, goes into the old mess and bug all my things !
Help me please.

little late to this, I had my own problem with some mod files (different game) being admin protected. right clicked on steam icon opened properties, security tab, edited rights for user (me) so I had full control rebooted computer & then I could do what I want with the files.

Sometimes windows gets wonky when it comes to permissions, since the administrator and the user you log in are actually considered different accounts and have different permissions.

You can edit your user permissions to be the same as the adminstrator, but I still sometimes have trouble in windows and have to run things as an administrator for them to work.

Only thing you can do is change ownership of files like cerabret said, since windows sometimes blocks the adminstrator from altering files by design.
