Aspyr's long history of botched releases, false promises, and lies.

Aspyr has a very tenured history in the re-releases of star wars games.

Let's go over them now.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake: has been stuck in limbo for years, might have been transferred over to a new studio because Aspyr cant get their ♥♥♥♥ together.

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy on PS4/Switch: Was released with a crossplay exploit that allowed malicious PC players to hack, crash lobbies, and basically make the entire multiplayer experience unplayable for the console players, and It took Aspyr over a month to patch it.

Now comes this on steam, a small $35 update to the original bf1 and bf2 with ported dlc from the original xbox.

owners of the original will have to rebuy it, however for loyalty they get a "20%" discount but the "20%" discount is actually a 10% discount, because currently for everyone, there is a 10% pre order discount.

A pre-order discount for *everyone* is a very big red flag, imagine devaluing your "remaster" right out of the gate and then removing the discount and RAISING the price AFTER it actually releases.

This smells strongly of more Aspyr lies and deception. Purchaser Beware.

Edit: A steam user is claiming that Aspyr is actually using their mod, an outdated version of their mod at that, for certain DLC content that is supposed to be being ported from the Xbox for this release. While I wont go into the legal rights and aspects of mods made from copyrighted material being used by the game developer, it's worrying an outdated and buggy version of a mod would be included if this is true, I cannot confirm the validity of it though, so take it with a grain of salt.

Another steam user in the same thread as the modder claims there might be even more mods taken from the community to be used in it.

It very well could have been fine, but Aspyr has a history that warrants being wary, especially regarding star wars games.

I don't think OP of all people has any right to insult someone for anything. But the Tomb Raider Remasters are great. 10/10. Minor issues that can be fixed in one update.

People can make mistakes in the past, and if you keep clinging to it like your own past, you'll never look past to see the beauty in their latest work. They even hired on fans who decompiled the originals to work on the remaster. It's a labor of love and it shows. I think it's only fair to give them a chance.

With their track record of repeatedly making false promises, If someone was still intent on buying what should have been a free update, I'd heavily suggest they do so a day before the game releases for the pre-order discounts, and play it for less than 2 hours so they can easily get a refund on steam when they inevitably realize a promised feature isnt present, and will never be coming.
