I wonder... will the other Myst games get a remake someday?

Back when RealMyst came out, I though it would be real cool if the other Myst games got a remake. Now that RealMyst Masterpiece edition came out with even better graphics, and free roam walking. (and still the option to play it as a point & click.)

I think it would be awesome if they did a remake of the other Myst games like this.
I mean those games haven't had a remake since well... ever.
I think this would grab the intention of any Myst fan who has already played the first Myst a lot.

Riven would be awesome... It would be nice if they used some extreme graphics tech like UE4 or the latest CryEngine.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE a remake of Riven. Let's hope they do it some day.

Even more so than that, I hope they make a brand new entry in the series akin to Riven.

Its already been established for a few years now that Riven is getting a remake. Although not from Cyan, from a college student, but Cyan endorses it. I personally dont think Myst 3 or 4 need remakes as I enjoy the live acting mixed with CG backgrounds. Its something Myst V needed badly. When they switched to full rendered graphics it took away the appeal for me. Although, you cant exactly do free roam with live action now could you lol.

I'm dissapointed by this remake. It's basically more of the same, and I already bought myst on almost every platform. I think Cyan has been limited by their engine. The starry expanse (a fan-made realriven), looks awesome in UDK.

What I would love is that cyan could remake myst from scratch to make it canon to the series. But we know it will not happen as long as cyan is out of funds...

Whoa, I've never seen that video before. Is it affiliated with the Starry Expanse project? I'm confused, since the video was uploaded in 2012, and SE have been using Unity up until about a month ago (when they switched to UDK). Maybe this was an early test for switching to UDK.

Anyway, I think it's kind of funny that in just about every forum and comment thread I have seen relating to realMyst: Masterpiece Edition, there are people asking for realRiven. Starry Expanse is the first Google result if you search for "realRiven".

I would love to see the rest of the them to be updated with Unity. Unity seems to run Myst very good and would love to see Riven and the rest of the games ported to it.

It looks like both Cyan and 59 Volts (the Starry Expanse team) are moving away from Unity to Unreal. Both Obduction and realRiven will use Unreal. I guess they didn't have very good experiences working in Unity -- perhaps a lot of the graphical and performance issues people are seeing in realMyst: Masterpiece Edition speak to that.
