Had that feeling it may not work.

This is a quote from somewhere else... "When i tried running it in windows 2000 compatability mode, it worked perfectly". That made me chuckle.

i don't know..the reccomended specs are really high, but i don't know if it is the main reason of your problem. try to run on compatibility mode, and then tell us if it work.

Keep in mind, this game is running on the Unity engine, not the original RealMyst one. So the issues won't be inherently the same.

Unity? No wonder it's not working very well for a lot of people.

Can you explain ? Are there some tricks we should try ?

No way..... I tried all the same, and I've got the same bitter feeling. I've got a pretty good laptop : I5-3210M @ 2.5GHz / 8GB RAM, Asus, Windows 7 / graphic : NVIDIA GeForce 610M

I mean, that should work.

I submitted a ticket on Cyan Support, will let you know guys. I'm a bit desperate nonetheless.

I am wondering if laptop gpu's are fully supported.

Runs 'fine' for me:

Windows 8.1
i7-4930MX
32.0 GB Ram
Gforce 780m GTX

A little choppy though...

Alright, I managed to make it work.

I'm using compatibility mode XP (SP3). I also tweaked a few stuff in NVIDIA configuration panel.

FXAA - off
Anisotropic filtering off
Vertical Sync - off

In the end, I'm still disappointed. The graphic upgrade is not obvious, at least on my laptop. Maybe with a decent computer, with every 3D parameters on top, the experience is worth it.
Don't know... at least, I can use my bloody game.

Same experience here, excepting I can't get it to work in any compatibility mode, nor any of the settings advised here, or the relevant Nvidia settings previously suggested in this thread. I have raised a ticket on the Cyan site and have sent a copy of DxDiag along with output_log.txt (from game folder).

As far as issues with the Unity engine, I'm having problems believing this is causing a problem (for me at least). I run Kerbal Space Program, and iirc that runs on Unity also. No problems there, I don't even need to try any Compatibility or Nvidia workarounds...

One thing to note: the game can drive the GPU really hard - to the point it's sky-rocketing GPU temperatures. Laptops have a much harder time running a cool GPU than desktops. This might lead to incorrect geometry on the screen and severe stutter as the GPU throttles back.
