Honestly I would wait for the open beta next week.
It's Destiny Crucible but way worse imho.

Beta only has 3 gamemodes (full game 6 I think and 12 maps) and it gets stale fast imho.
Characters are not very relatable, balance and netcode need work too.
Intros get annoying after a few matches.

I also don't trust that this game will find a steady playerbase, so the "purchase" might be wasted money - if that matters to you.
Peak on Steam was 1124 players, which is nothing, that's probably the reason why they made it basically an last minute open beta on PSN, since it's available to everyone with PS+, instead of only prepurchases.

Appreciate these thoughts, sounds fair. Paid pvp from new IP's is always a gamble with player population, it would be logical to suppress the impulse buyer in me and wait lol

I am generally pretty upbeat on games when everyone else is just bashing them. I care less about having to connect to PSN. I don't get why so many people are upset about this but to each there own. From what I see so far and I dont feel there is enough time before launch are:

1. Movement just feel off. To me it feels like I'm either running faster than i am or slower. Its just off. For example to use Overwatch as the comparison its night and day difference. I like Overwatch's movement speed and it feels natural. Concord to me doesn't.

2. Classes need some balancing (I get thats what the betas will be used for) but not sure it can be corrected in time. Granted its extremely new to everyone who just started but most games regardless of class have weapons or abilities you can use to counter. At first glance this one doesn't seem to have it. Again very new so this may get better with more play time.

3. I'm not sure it will have lasting appeal. This will be highly subjective as many games get a huge base in the beginning then it tapers off to the ones who are in it for the long haul. Example of a current game is The Finals. Playerbase is way down and there are still issues with it but its one I still go to for some fun.

4. It just feels bland. Some of the weapons to me are just no fun. In most other games I can enjoy most and have a favorite.

Still on the fence if I am going to keep it or not? Maybe there is just much other like it that I'm not sure if this will stick around. I am in no way wanting this to fail but I am skeptical about this game.

For me this comes down to:
Have you played Destiny? If yes, Concord sucks.
If not, it still sucks, because Destiny is very similar, but feels better and offers more for less money.

As I said before, I'll reevaluate my opinion next weekend when the PC beta launches (I hate playing Shooters with the gamepad), but I don't expect anything to change and even if I change my mind, my concerns regarding the longevity of this game would still remain.

I mean you can purchase it and try it out for an hour and a half and refund it in case you don't like it.
Don't get why you feel pressured to try the closed beta at all costs though, there are only 300 players on PC right now, it's Crossplay, but console plebs are literally like AI.

Tried it on PSN+ for nearly 2 hours (so I had a basic understanding of heroes and mechanics)

Don’t waste your money. Way better shooters out there that are free.

Pretty sure this will be another suicide squad where Sony makes it free for PSN+ subscribers by the holidays to milk subscriptions and trying to get player numbers up.

This ain’t it.

I like it.

It needs some balance tweaks.

Not sure what the purpose of character levels are since I've yet to receive anything from leveling a character and most unlocks are based on your account level.

There's a character for everyone..good aim, bad aim, no aim LUL .. but I think this might be causing an issue as the easier characters will become monsters in the hands of good players.

The beta offers "three game modes", but really, it's only two ... Unranked with respawn and Ranked with no respawn (which I don't care to play while learning the characters).

Actual game play feels good outside of movement which isn't bad, but it's just...ok? fine? meh?. They have it set that if you're sprinting you basically cannot move left or right and need to steer yourself with the mouse. The dodge feels decent. Also I've yet to find the Hold To Sprint, so i'm constantly fumbling over my shift key being on or off.

It's just Destiny PvP but slower that's pretty much it. Nothing Special except the 40 euro pricetag and same Monetization as any other free 2 play Hero Shooter.
To add to that the beta peaked on Steam yesterday evening 1124 https://steamdb.info/app/3011460/charts/ players right now it has 405 the peak already went down 30 minutes after it. The game has no identity it just feels like they took Destiny 2 PvP ripped it from the game and slapped 40 euro on it and took weapons and made from that Classes. That's pretty much it. 1:1 Destiny Match intro and the Pace is just slowed down.

I have fun, I just think the characters are ugly as sin, worst character design in history.
But the gameplay is solid.

That's the main reason why I don't want to throw myself into this game too. Hyenas had similair nummbers on steam and they cancelled that game before it ever left the beta

I like this game a lot, but every other match it feels like my shots just don't connect and I die behind walls or when the shooter isn't even facing me. People say it's like Destiny but worse, but I don't think you can get much worse than Destiny.

It's.....weird.

Devs thought it was a good idea to not put a training mode in the beta, but it will be in for the full game so if you want to learn exactly what someone's ability does, you have to do it in the middle of a match right now. I like tanks so I'm playing the big yellow robot and I'm still not sure how one of their abilities works and most likely never will.

For some reason the devs thought it was a good idea to play a cutscene and make you wait for what feels like 1 minute before you can actually pick a character and get into the game after you have already left the main menu.

There are also two systems in place in the game that have no reason to be there and no one will bother to use them. They are weird and don't make any sense and just need removed from the game.

The first feature is that each "class" has a passive ability on them. Things like faster healing, faster reloads, ect. Now you can get all 5-6 passives on you in a single round. How you ask? By switching to a difference "class" each time you die. No one is going to do that for a simple buff that we aren't even sure how strong it is. Who wants to switch to a single class for a single life for what feels like half the game just to go back to their main and have all 6 passive buffs that will be gone in a few minutes?

The second feature that makes no sense is in modes where you have a single life per round, you are suppose to create your own team set up with 12 character slots to fill. Once you die with someone just once, they are out for the rest of the game and you have to choose one of the other 11 remaining characters in your custom team set up. Here's the problem though. The game lets you place the same character in 3 slots. Games last five rounds so for three of those rounds you get the play the character that you wanted if you slotted them 3 times. Now you have to play someone else for two rounds. Except you don't. Reason being is that each character will have variants which gives the same character a difference unique character passive bonus (not the same as the "class" passive) and each variant counts as a different character so you can just slot both variants for 6 slots total and will never have to give up your main just because they died in a no respawn mode. Brilliant.

Here's a review from a guy who had hundreds of hours in overwatch:

That cutscene was seriously bad. I don't think a cutscene has ever made me less excited to play a game.

It needs some polish, but overall I don't think it's too bad. As someone who still enjoys hero multiplayer FPS, I could see there being hope.
