"Get Woke Go Broke" - What do we mean by this?

People have been saying the phrase "Get Woke, Go Broke" as an axiom for the past few years, and often I see people purposefully misunderstand its meaning so they can counter that axiom by citing a corporations gross earnings from their most recent peak. But that's a non-sequitur to the actual colloquial usage of "Get Woke, Go Broke" axiom.

It's an axiom that is meant to reflect the negative impact that identity politics has on profit. Meaning that companies and projects out right leave money on the table, by intentionally refusing to create content that the majority of people would pay money for.

Any project that sells bellow expectations because of identity politics, qualifies as "getting woke" and "going broke". It's never been a literal claim of full bankruptcy, even though it's happened to a few companies.

The REASON we never expect full bankruptcy is because we're fully aware of large investment firms like BlackRock, Vangard, and State Street pour in obscene amounts of money into these companies to make up for any losses. Companies don't really have a financial reason to not go woke, because these investment firms do everything they can to cushion the blow caused by losing customers and sales.

With that in mind, I provide you with a short list of examples of "getting woke" and "going broke".

"Get woke go broke" was only ever a claim of negative impact to profit from going woke, and in worse cases, financial loss from going woke, and in extreme cases actually lead to a company closing down, and there have been countless examples over the years to varying degrees.

We've lost Japan unfortunately. Sony has been woke for years, Nintendo announced a few months ago that they're going all-in investing everything they have into DEI and ESG, and recently this past week Bandai Namco said they're going to do the same thing.
