Come on! Mouse Steering, Please.

Sim looks great and I like the physics but no mouse steering baffles me. Your building a race game, wouldn't the first 2 control methods be actual wheel and then keyboard/mouse steering.
Why would you even bother setting up keyboard only for steering with a game like this, who is calling the shots over there?

Even an xbox gamepad would be better than using a mouse. But yeah, a wheel is the way to go.

Yeah man. I'm all about the mouse. I am hyper enthusiastic about sim racing with a mouse/kbd setup. I have a logitech G27 wheel, and a 360 controller, but there is something about PC gaming that makes using the mouse so much more ... puritan. I add a lot of lap time, I crash an awful lot which pisses other drivers off to no end, but when you're PC gaming with a mouse in your hand, man, it's hard to describe, it's like you're driving with a mouse or something.

Guys, I'm a hardcore pc gamer here, playing since wing commander days.

I have a g27 and a gt wheel and do like them, however the mouse is super precise and has a form of elegance that I can't get from anything else. I play both LIVE FOR SPEED and IRACING with mouse steering and it's great as it let's me race without a wheel setup on any pc.

Even PROJECT CARS another hardcore racing game, still in alpha lets me play with mouse steering!

Just imagine this, having your hand on top of the mouse is like having your hand on top of a steering wheel, much like the way I drive my rx8, one hand on the wheel while the other is on the shifter. If you have a gamer mouse it will allow you to switch dpi on the fly and you can get any virtual wheel type you want. And yes you need a proper setup with good mouse "roccat kone" and high quality large mouse pad.

If you try mouse steering you will understand what I mean.
Basically you get the precision of a wheel without the wheel.

Whoever thinks that an xbox game pad is better than a mouse for steering like Lemans24fan is but a casual gamer! Let's just examine a gamepad, the control method, two little tiny stick that you have to push against a force for it to create an idea of precision. I'm not saying a gamepad completely sucks if I have 3 friends over and we are playing FIFA !

It's the same when you play an FPS.

How would mouse steering be a troll, look at the best sim like racing games and they all have mouse steering, well any game that is made for the PC should by default have mouse steering because every pc will have a mouse but not all will have wheels. If you have a proper mouse and setup corectly for mouse steering it's the second best control method for any hardcore racer.

live for speed = mouse steering
iracing = mouse steering
project cars = mouse steering

latest entry in sim / hardcore racing game
assetto corsa = NO mouse steering

So unless you have a wheel you can't play the game, even in alpha this would be one of the first features implemented.

Well, quite a few World Records were set (a few still stand) with a mouse on Live For Speed so i get what Capsilus stated.

live for speed is crap and the best sim driver in the world don't drive this game so the world record time is not the best ;)
