I tried the game first time with the hotlaps, it seems to be very impressive and i had no problems. But I would like to switch of the ghostcar. When it is too close to me, i have the feeling that i have to prevent an accident. I should stay in front of it, but this is not always possible :-)
A small button in the menu would be nice...

Look for "Session" section to the left from "Realism" settings. There is option "Ghost car enabled".

Edit: I just discovered that this option doesn't work at least for me. But there is option "Ghost car advantage", set it to maximum, so the ghost car will be far ahead.

Disabling the ghost car works when I do it manually in the race.ini file.

Actually, on that note, could the developers make the ghost car more transparent? And how about an option to turn it off ad-hoc. It really bothers me to have something in front of me when I am hotlapping, blocking my judgment of the braking distance, etc. I only really want to know where my ghost car is so I can know whether I am faster or slower than before; I don't need it on all the time as it is distracting.

100% agree with this! :) I always find ghost cars to be more annoying than helpful haha.

We just fixed the disable ghost car problem & made the ghost car more transparent based on your feedback.

Disabling the ghost car wasn't working for me either (not in config either, it just re-wrote itself every login), I'l try the fix. I usually turn the ghost off altogether, it's nothing but a distraction.

Finally i found the Ghostcar- button, it is in the "Session"- menu inside the "drive"- menu were you can select the properties of your event...

I have to manually enable ghost car, then unclick it before each session. That's the only way it'll prevent the ghost car from appearing. If I just start a session (with it set to default off), it'll show anyways.

I think the ghost car should have an option to show or not show on demand while driving. Also, although it's more transparent, could you further increase the transparency, especially when it's closer? That would be much better. I don't care if it's opaque when it's far away, but within 200 meters or something, it should be quite transparent so as not to distort our judgment during hotlaps.

I tried it today again, and also with switching it off in the menu, the ghostcar was still there...
However, driving AC is really fun

Try what I put two posts above. When you're setting race conditions, click show ghost car, then unclick. I've never had a ghost if I do that first.

sorry to bump an old thread but i was wondering if there was any way (or an option) to decrease the transparency to a solid color so it looks like im following an actual car
I want to be able to be able to do a drift lap, then practice my following proximity. whenever I get close the ghost car disappears

You mean during an actual race while racing opponents or while practising laps?
