Then why would they add drag racing? If this is such a good sim, it should simulate the fact that people hate others that drag race Lamborghini or Ferraris.
I have seen the doco, and I'm aware of the inherent difficulty of racing muscle cars on circuits. But it's that difficulty that some people enjoy. I myself don't really care for muscle cars, but I know there are plenty of people out there who'd love them - and considering AC have already implemented Drag and Drift modes in the game, one or two irresponsibly overpowered cars would not be completely out-of-place.
I'm sorry that I watch motorsports and post my opinions on a motorsports simulator forum. How is that someone with real motorsports interest not have a valid point? You'd figure that people who play a racing simulator would have some sort of knowledge of how real motorsports work considering it is afterall a racing simulator. Or perhaps an interest in race cars or motorsport outside of virtual form. So many casual gamers bought this simulator and suggest things that are in so many arcade and simcade titles already. My guess is a lot of people bought their first racing simulator and expected an arcade game or simcade game. I said they'd be fine for the drag segment and Bathurst. That after all is perfectly an authentic experience. But having said that, I'd prefer the developers to concentrate on FiA regulated racing rather than drag which is such a small element of this simulator. I'm sure drag racing guys will mod those cars in for their interest. Im also not convinced that the multiplayer mode will be as good as iRacing yet. Rather than having a broadrange of cars and a lot of different modes with no real focus, I'd like to see some evidence of organized race leagues and real competitive motorsports implemented. Forinstance a penalty system, safety rating, license, etc. It is a huge undertaking and they only have a 10 man staff. Unless you've experienced how awesome the iRacing multiplayer is, you wouldn't understand what I'm trying to say. But it is so fun, and if you combine that type of competition with this Sims engine, you'd have the most perfect sim racer to date.
With racing Sims there is a quality of quantity mindset. iRacing for example only has a small amount of cars to choose from. But this keeps competition fair and the quality of the cars realistic and highest of quality. The op asked questions if there has been any announcements of it and I gave an honest answer, which we actually agree on considering I SAID I'd be fine if they had a few drag cars and muscle for bathurst. But I dont see a point in bringing them into the sim for any other reason than that.
I'm pretty sure we both basically agree on what the game should include natively, and what it should leave to modders, etc.
Personally, I think there are things AC should work on outside of just more cars and more tracks. Namely physics/tires/weather, not to mention general multiplayer architecture.
I'm not saying american muscle car fans are wrong. They just might have to wait a little longer to get some drag cars because they are in the minority. I for one would actually enjoy racing a v8 ford falcon in Bathurst. But I'd rather see a focus on FiA racing first.
Exactly, couldn't have stated it better. There are enough cars at the moment, but I want to race them with people online. Complete with stats, dynamic weather, and damage. At the moment the game is just a hot lap simulator. There is a lot of work to do.
iRacing is already dominated by SCCA, Indy, and NASCAR. Meanwhile FiA, f1, DTM, euro series fans get left high and dry in iRacing with not that much content. I'm fine with some murican cars here and there but again, yawn! The #1 race sim out there already has all that stuff. I think the majority of the hardcore sim people here are more into the supercars, hyper cars, and f1 vintage. In all the polls they wanted national tracks and exotic cars. I'm sure you'll get you way but in due time.
