What is wrong with Ferrari F40 and McLaren?
For some reason I can't drive those cars, they are so difficult to control compared to the rest of the available cars. Do I need a special setting for those cars? I use a logitech g27 wheel.

You can try adjusting the setups, but other than that, you just need to practise. A tip though, switch to the 90's slick tyres on the F40. :)

I know most don't like to do it but turn traction control on with the McLaren and see if you go quicker.

Switch to 90's slicks on F40 like Ragequit suggested, download the tyre temp app and don't push the mofo until the rubber is warm and cozy.

Don't like the McLaren and can't say much about it. F40 is awesome though :)

Quit being a baby. The F40 is a late 80's/early 90's supercar with massive amounts of turbo lag.

The MP4-12C requires in-car TC and ABS to be enabled, as the real car is designed to be driven with driver aids enabled.

Funny I got a very different feeling from the Mac Laren. I have been driving it with the road tire and I had to double check that the ABS was indeed off it is so hard to lock the tires. It has a lot of power so it requires a bit of trottle control but apart from that it is an easy car to drive.

The F40 with the 90' road tire is a very different animal. Hard to tame but that makes it very fun to drive.

The F40 only tries to kill you because it believes in you and knows you're good enough to learn to parry it.

Well either that or because it's an abomination unto god unleashed upon the world by a dying madman intent on fighting the Countach/959 fire with a neutrom bomb.

LOL, dont forget cars have become a lot lighter and handling has increased just by natural evolution of tecnology. F40 is basically a rocket on four wheels, seems quite heavy too.
As for the Mclaren, I've never really liked the handling of it, not only in this game but other sims too. There was a TV show I saw awhile back test driving the Mclaren against a Ferarri(458?) and a Porsche. Both Test drivers really disliked the handling of the Mclaren, you could see in there faces that it was not an enjoyable experience driving the Mclaren. But when they drove the Ferrari it was all smiles and wide eyes with extreme sense of control.

I'm using a G27 and both those cars are driveable, it's not a problem of the wheel (I'm using the stock ingame configuration). Just have a very light foot on the throttle while you're trying to understand the Ferrari, and remember that you have a big engine with massive turbolag and not a great grip at all from those tyres. Driving that thing arount the Mugello is a blast!

Yeah that's definetly the grip that poses me problem. I'm getting a little bit better.

Thx for the tips, everyone.

You may think me crazy, but lower the rear tire pressures to 21psi and smile. I am talking about the Ferrari F40.

Is there any website or wiki pages that explain every settings that we can be changed on our car and the effects on driving? I know next to nothing about car mechanics and racing. The only car i drove in my life is an automatic hyundai accent, and i never even bothered to open the hood. Just learning to use the clutch and the shifter with the g27 was a pain in the butt.

Awesome, thx.

''Decreasing rear pressure: increase understeer, grip in corners and rear tire wear''.

I learned a lot from the APEX book that came with GT5. I recently bought "Tune to Win" by Carrol Smith, which is a highly rated book, a little dated though but really good stuff and you don't need to be an engineering student to understand it.

As far as understanding car setup, behaviour and aspects of physics it's a really worthwhile purchase, I'm told it's somewhat of a bible to amateur racers. That said there are guides available online too if you search. Setup has always been one of my weak points, something I'm trying to fix but not something that comes natural to me.

Edit : about the F40 and MP4-12c. Try them on a slower track like Vallelunga Club (or even the Joux Plane rally stage conversion). Maybe even try some of the slower cars first, like the Fiat 500 Abarth and the BMW M3 E30 street car. Sometimes if you have been driving those rocketships on big high speed tracks its very difficult to adjust to these cars, and what you need is a brain/muscle memory reset. The F40 at Mugello is a daunting task even when you can drive the car.

On a smaller track like Vallelunga club the cars are more in their sweet spots and you can get a better feel for them. I originally didn't like either and now I love them both.
